DNSnetworks is looking for an experienced Level 2 - technical support engineer who thrives on tackling diverse challenges in unique environments. Working in teams, the ideal candidate will contribute to operations through the timely delivery of technical solutions in support of the service delivery and operations team. You will have the opportunity to influence project deliverables that support technical operations, including data collection, processing, and analysis for DNSnetworks investigations.

The technical support engineer's main responsibilities :
- Support, design, develop, enhance, and implement computer application systems and programs.
- Evaluate the performance of existing computer systems, plan and direct upgrades, troubleshoot problems, and resolve issues.
- Provide recommendations to improve IT systems and services.
- Support, administer, configure, and install software and hardware products and systems.
- Implement new products or upgrades in a network operating environment by assessing feasibility, cost/benefit, and impact on clients.
- Liaise with clients, including senior management and external vendors, to resolve issues and recommend next steps.
- Develop, evaluate, and test new technologies.
- Provide 24/7 first-tier management and support.
- Ensure access to all IT network services.
- Manage changes to the IT infrastructure and configuration management.
Solid working experience in most of the following :
- IP Networking basics: TCP/IP, Subnetting, IP Packet flow, OSI layers; Routing technologies: OSPF, ISIS, BGP, MPLS (L2 & L3 VPN), RSVP, LDP, Multicast protocols (IGMP, PIM), Traffic Engineering.
- Switching and Data Center technologies: VLAN / Trunking, STP, RSTP, VSTP, VXLAN / EVPN, IP-Fabric.
- Experience with traffic generators and network protocol analysis tools.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills for large and complex networks.
- Experience with Juniper products (MX, PTX, QFX, EX, SRX) is preferred.
- Knowledge of Fortinet, Aruba, Dell network products.
- Advanced knowledge of wireless networks.
- Experience with OS architectures (nix, FreeBSD), virtualization, hardware components, scripting languages (TCL, Perl, Ansible, Puppet, C, C++), and network services (DHCP, DNS, TACACS, Radius).
- Experience with virtualization stacks: VMware, Hyper-V, KVM, ProxMox, Redhat OpenShift.
- Knowledge of Windows Server 2022 roles and services.
Education
Undergraduate degree or Technologist diploma or equivalent in one of the following fields, from an accredited institution recognized in Canada:
- Computer Science
- Network Security
- Telecommunications
If completed outside Canada, proof of Canadian equivalency is required at your expense via a recognized credential assessment service.
Note: Higher levels of education may be recognized as experience.
Experience
Minimum requirements:
- Undergraduate degree with at least 1 year of relevant experience, or
- Technologist diploma or equivalent with at least 2 years of relevant experience.
Candidates with less experience may be considered as underfill, with requirements to meet specific objectives through training.
Experience in one or more of the following areas is preferred:
- Collaboration Tools (SharePoint, Microsoft Exchange)
- Desktop Support (Windows 11, Server 2022+)
- Network Operations Center (monitoring, support, security)
- Access Management (Active Directory, M365, MFA)
- Change/Release Management (ITIL, related tools)
- Configuration Management (databases, SQL, tools)
- Network/Communications (Fortigate, Cisco, Juniper, Palo Alto)
- Telephony (Avaya, SIP, H.323)
- Server & Storage (SAN, NAS, Fiber Channel)
- Problem and Quality Assurance Management
- Enterprise Management & Security
