Job summary

BMO Financial Group seeks a strategic Managing Director, Cyber & Technology Risk to lead independent oversight, assessment, and evolution of the Bank’s cyber and technology risk posture. This senior leader operates in 2LOD and oversees a team across North America.

The role focuses on cybersecurity risk (about 80%) with broader technology risk (about 20%), requiring deep risk-management expertise and effective engagement with senior stakeholders. Strong leadership is essential.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree required; professional certifications (CISSP, CCSP, AWS CCP, etc.) Beneficial.
• 15+ years of cybersecurity experience with at least five years of managing a team and influencing management and key stakeholders.
• Exposure to technology in a large, complex, regulated financial services enterprise.
• Must be highly skilled NFR sub-risk professional with value-added recommendations and high-impact results.
• Proven ability to manage a team and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong investigative, problem-solving, and decision-making skills for complex risk issues.
• Strong technical acumen in cybersecurity, technology, data protection, IAM, Infrastructure security.

Responsibilities

• Own the enterprise-wide second line technology and cyber risk oversight strategy, ensuring independent challenge across all technology and cyber risk domains.
• Provide oversight over control improvements and actions to manage Cyber and Technology Risk exposures, providing effective challenge.
• Lead governance and reporting for Technology and Cyber Risk to executive management committees and boards.
• Report an independent Technology and Cyber Risk Profile to senior management, regulators, and Board committees.
• Develop and implement KRIs and KPIs, and monitor evolving threats and regulatory expectations.
