Executive Director
Greater Halifax Area

Our client is a well-established organization dedicated to advocating for the interests of insurance brokers across the region. They strive to provide their members with the resources, support, and guidance necessary to excel in the ever-evolving insurance landscape. Their mission is to promote professionalism, innovation, and collaboration within the industry.

Position Overview:

They are seeking a dynamic and visionary Executive Director to lead the organization. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership and organizational skills. This role involves strategic planning, advocacy, member engagement, and operational management. This position will report to the board of directors and must be able to work as part of an existing team to meet organizational objectives.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Execute strategic goals and objectives, recommending timelines and resources.
  • Manage day-to-day operations, including budget development, oversight, and program management.
  • Create and implement financial resource strategies.
  • Engage and energize volunteers, board members, committees, and partnering organizations through involvement in events, meetings, and committees.
  • Coordinate multiple projects within tight timelines, including the Atlantic Insurance Brokers Convention.
  • Advocate for insurance brokers at local, provincial, and national levels.
  • Ensure performance reviews and systems to track progress, fostering a culture of professional development.
  • Act as primary spokesperson, handle crisis communications, media interviews, and publication submissions.
  • Represent the organization during national federation meetings with the Insurance Brokers Association of Canada.
  • Foster relationships with members, stakeholders, and industry partners.
  • Stay informed on industry trends, regulations, and best practices.
  • Manage contract requirements with the Insurance Brokers Association of Newfoundland and Labrador.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or related field; a Master’s degree is an asset.
  • Proven leadership experience within the insurance industry or a non-profit organization.
  • Understanding of the insurance landscape and regulations is an asset.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Self-motivated with strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Ability to advocate effectively for the organization.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience in developing materials/resources for organizational effectiveness.

Working Conditions:

  • Access to a vehicle required.
