Assisted Living Alberta is seeking an accomplished and strategic human resources leader to join us as Executive Director, People & Culture. Reporting to the Chief Administrative and Financial Officer, this senior role provides HR leadership across ALA and helps shape an inclusive, values‑driven organizational culture.

Assisted Living Alberta isseekingan accomplished and strategic human resources leader to join our organization as Executive Director, People & Culture. Reporting to the Chief Administrative and Financial Officer, this senior leadership role provides strategic HR leadership andexpertiseacross ALA, helping to build a high-performing, engaged and resilient workforce.As a trusted advisor to the CEO and Executive Leadership Team, you will lead the development, implementation and monitoring of ALA’s People Strategy while helping shape an inclusive,healthyand values-driven organizational culture. You will work collaboratively with leaders and teams across Alberta, providing strategic guidance on workforce planning, talent management, labour relations, organizational change, employee experience, workplace health and safety, and HR compliance.This is an exciting opportunity to influence the people and culture foundation of an evolving organization and help position ALA as a leader in continuing care excellence.This position may work in the Edmonton or Calgary Zone.

Description:

The Executive Director, People & Culture provides strategic leadership and oversight for human resources functions, including HR Business Partnerships, Talent & Workforce Strategies, Labour Relations, HR Shared Services, Workplace Health & Safety, and HR Compliance.You will develop and execute integrated workforce strategies that support ALA’s strategic and operational priorities, including recruitment, workforce planning, learning and development, onboarding, employee engagement,retention,and organizational change. You will champion diversity, equity and inclusion and support initiatives that foster employee health, wellness, safety and belonging.Working with ALA’s Executive Leadership Team and internal and external partners, you willestablisheffective relationships and coordinate HR services delivered through the Shared Services Organization. You will alsoprovideexpert advice on organizational health, workforce capabilities,performance,and transformation opportunities.You willestablishand monitor key HR measures,identifyworkforce trends and risks, and ensure HR practices align with applicable policies, legislation, serviceagreements,and organizational priorities.

Required Qualifications:

Abachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or a related field isrequired, along with a Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) or related professional designation such as MHRM or SHRM-SCP.A minimum of 10 years of progressive human resources experience isrequired, including at least three years in a leadership or managerial role. Experience within healthcare, social services or continuing care environments isrequired.The successful candidate will have experience working within a large, multilayered organization and managing diverse partnerships and relationships. Experience implementing HR policies,systems and processesand interpreting and applying Alberta and federal employment legislation, labour relations requirements and HR best practices is alsorequired.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Demonstrated experience leading workforce planning, talent development,learningand training initiatives within a new or evolving organizational environment. Proven ability to lead strategic initiatives and organizational change while fostering innovation,adaptability,and continuous improvement.Strong knowledge of recruitment, onboarding, performance management, employee relations, compensation and benefits, workplace culture, and employment compliance. Experience using HRIS, HRanalytics,and technology to support data-informed decisions and improve HR processes.Exceptional relationship-building, communication,negotiationand conflict-resolution skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate with executives, staff,unions,and external partners. Demonstrated ability to build an inclusive workplace culture and support employee engagement,retentionand DEI initiatives.Strong judgment and resilience when managing complex or challenging situations, with a demonstrated commitment to integrity,transparency,and ethical leadership. Project management experience in a dynamic and evolving environment isrequired.

Preferred Qualifications:

Amaster’s degree in Business, Human Resources or a relatedfield. Experience collaborating with a Shared Services Organization, familiarity with HR technology and HRIS platforms, anddemonstratedexperience developing and implementing DEI strategies and initiatives.
