Join Our Team as an Executive Chef at Missionwood Retirement Resort!

Location :

Regency Retirement Resorts have 8 locations in the Okanagan, including Vernon, Penticton, West Kelowna, and Kelowna. This position is on site within Kelowna.

Job Description

Under the direction of the General Manager, the Executive Chef will exhibit their culinary talents in creating menus and delivery high quality dishes that meet the philosophy and standards of Regency Retirement Resort. Being mindful to residents that have food Allergies or intolerances. You will lead the Food Services Department to operate in an effective, efficient, and safe manner while creating a memorable dining experience for our residents.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute diverse, nutritious, and appealing menus tailored to the needs and preferences of senior residents, including those with special dietary requirements.
  • Lead and manage the kitchen team, including hiring, training, scheduling, and performance evaluations.
  • Oversee daily food preparation, ensuring quality, taste, and presentation meet or exceed standards.
  • Maintain compliance with health, safety, and sanitation regulations, including local health department requirements.
  • Monitor food inventory levels, order supplies, and manage vendor relationships to ensure cost-effective purchasing.
  • Develop and manage the kitchen budget, focusing on food cost control and waste reduction.
  • Collaborate with the Food and Beverage Manager and other team members to plan special events, themed meals, and resident engagement activities.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and incorporate innovative culinary techniques and ideas.
  • Build strong relationships with residents, families, and staff to gather feedback and continuously improve the dining experience.

Education And Experience

  • Received their Red Seal from a recognized training program.
  • Applicant must possess a minimum of 3-5 years’ experience as a chef in the hospitality industry.
  • Certificate in Serving it Right & WHMIS
  • Food Safe Level II, renewable every four years.

  • Strong understanding of dietary restrictions, including low-sodium, diabetic-friendly, and allergen-free meals.
  • Proven leadership and team-building skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Creativity and passion for food, with a focus on quality and presentation.

  • Strong communication skills and a customer-service-oriented mindset.

Salary and Hours of Work

  • This is a full-time position (37.5 hrs per week) Tuesday-Saturday or Sunday-Thursday requiring flexibility to include occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays to accommodate resident needs and special events.
  • The salary range for this position is $74,000 - $78,000 annually, based on experience and qualifications.
