Job summary

Lakeridge Health Foundation is seeking an Events Officer in Oshawa to lead planning, execution and growth of signature fundraising events and community engagement initiatives. You will coordinate internal stakeholders, sponsors and vendors to deliver high-impact experiences that drive fundraising and donor loyalty.

You will manage budgets, evaluate outcomes, and collaborate with marketing to promote events while supporting volunteer committees and ensuring exceptional participant experiences.

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years’ progressive experience in event planning, preferably within fundraising and/or non-profit.
  • Proven track record in executing large-scale, complex, and high-profile events that meet or exceed fundraising goals.
  • Strong financial acumen with experience in budget creation, management, and reporting.
  • Exceptional project management, organizational, and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail.
  • Skilled in negotiation, vendor management, and logistics.
  • Collaborative, approachable, and trustworthy, with excellent interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated creativity, flexibility, and sound judgment.
  • Experience recruiting, supervising, and motivating volunteers and committees.
  • Proficiency with Raiser’s Edge, Raisin, MS Office, or equivalent programs.
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as required.

Responsibilities

  • Work with Senior Manager and Senior Officer to develop, manage and monitor the annual events and community engagement budget.
  • Serve as the Foundation's primary project coordinator and internal liaison for all signature fundraising events, ensuring effective collaboration among staff, volunteers, sponsors, vendors and external partners.
  • Coordinate and manage relationships with external event production companies and agency partners, consultants and suppliers, ensuring deliverables, timelines, budgets and service standards.
  • Develop and manage comprehensive event work plans, critical paths, budgets and timelines to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Coordinate event logistics, including venues, permits, licenses, suppliers, catering, entertainment, audiovisual production, auction procurement, transportation, signage and vendor management.
  • Monitor event revenue and expenses, identify opportunities to maximize net revenue and complete post-event reporting.
  • Ensure delivery of an exceptional experience for donors, sponsors, participants, volunteers and guests.

We’re looking for a strategic, creative, and dynamic member to help elevate our community presence, strengthen donor relationships, and drive critical fundraising efforts to support health care across Durham Region and beyond.

Job Purpose:

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Community Engagement, and working closely with the Senior Officer, Community Engagement, the Events Officer plays a key role in delivering Lakeridge Health Foundation's event & community engagement strategy through the planning, execution and growth of the Foundation's signature fundraising events, community fundraising initiatives, stewardship and cultivation events, peer-to-peer fundraising activities, and other donor engagement opportunities.

As the Foundation's primary project coordinator and liaison for signature fundraising events, the Events Officer is responsible for coordinating internal stakeholders, sponsors, vendors, volunteers and external event management partners to ensure events are delivered seamlessly, achieve fundraising objectives and provide an exceptional participant and donor experience.

The Events Officer supports the full event lifecycle, including planning, budgeting, logistics, sponsorship fulfillment, participant experience, volunteer coordination, evaluation and performance measurement. The Officer identifies opportunities to enhance event experiences, strengthen community engagement and maximize fundraising revenue.

Key Responsibilities:
Event Planning & Execution
  • Work alongside the Senior Manager, Community Engagement and Senior Officer, Community Engagement to develop, manage and monitor the annual events and community engagement budget.
  • Serve as the Foundation's primary project coordinator and internal liaison for all signature fundraising events, ensuring effective collaboration between Foundation staff, volunteers, sponsors, vendors and external event management partners.
  • Coordinate and manage relationships with external event production companies and agency partners, consultants and suppliers, ensuring deliverables, timelines, budgets and service standards are achieved.
  • Develop and manage comprehensive event work plans, critical paths, budgets and timelines to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Coordinate event logistics, including venues, permits, licenses, suppliers, catering, entertainment, audiovisual production, auction procurement, transportation, signage and vendor management, working collaboratively with external event partners where appropriate.
  • Monitor event revenue and expenses, proactively identify opportunities to maximize net revenue and complete financial reconciliation and post-event reporting within established timelines.
  • Ensure delivery of an exceptional experience for donors, sponsors, participants, volunteers and guests before, during and after each event.
Community Fundraising & Engagement
  • Support the Senior Officer, Community Engagement on the planning and execution of community-led fundraising initiatives, third-party events and peer-to-peer fundraising campaigns.
  • Support stewardship and cultivation events that strengthen donor relationships and deepen community engagement.
  • Assist with the planning, administration and promotion of lottery and gaming fundraising initiatives, as assigned.
  • Identify opportunities to expand community participation, enhance fundraising experiences and develop new community fundraising initiatives aligned with Foundation priorities.
Sponsorship & Revenue Generation
  • Collaborate with Officer, Sponsorships & Corporate Giving to develop strong donor engagement strategies, recruit and support sponsorships, and support a best-in-class donor experience that maximizes revenue and strengthens community support.
  • Support sponsor fulfillment activities to ensure sponsors receive exceptional recognition, stewardship and value.
  • Identify innovative opportunities to increase fundraising participation, sponsorship revenue and donor engagement.
Marketing, Stewardship & Volunteer Engagement
  • Collaborate with the Marketing & Communications team to support integrated marketing and digital campaigns that recruit participants, increase fundraising and steward donors and sponsors.
  • Work with Foundation leadership to recruit, orient, support and recognize event committees, ambassadors and volunteers while maintaining strong ongoing communication.
  • Cultivate and maintain meaningful relationships with donors, sponsors, volunteers, vendors, participants and community partners to encourage long-term engagement and support.
Reporting & Administration
  • Maintain accurate event records and constituent information using Raiser's Edge, Raisin and other Foundation systems.
  • Prepare post-event evaluations, KPI reports and recommendations to continuously improve fundraising performance, participant experience and operational effectiveness.
  • Maintain committee minutes, event documentation and shared Marketing & Communications files.
  • Oversee the inventory of event signage, promotional materials, displays, swag and other event assets.
  • Ensure compliance with Foundation policies, privacy requirements and fundraising best practices.
  • Seek innovative approaches that improve operational efficiency, event quality and fundraising outcomes.
  • Provide support to the Senior Manager, Community Engagement, Senior Officer, Community Engagement and other team members as required.
