Job description
Overview

Events East Group invites applications for the position of Event Services Technician (core) with our Event Services team. The Event Services Technician (ET) is responsible for performing assigned tasks related to the overall physical setup and teardown for the Halifax Convention Centre (HCC), Scotiabank Centre (SBC), and Events East Group events. Reporting to the Event Services Department Managers, ETs work closely to ensure event spaces are set up correctly and safely according to event orders. Event Technicians interact with guests in a friendly, courteous, and professional manner to consistently exceed customer expectations and contribute to a positive, safe, and inclusive team environment.

Responsibilities
  • Adhere to all Events East Group policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Cultivate positive relationships across the organization and with external guests.
  • Participate fully in all training and development initiatives.
  • Work with colleagues in a respectful, professional manner to meet event setup and teardown deadlines.
  • Respond to client needs with a pleasant demeanor and communicate changes to the direct supervisor promptly.
  • Set up, install, reconfigure, relocate, and dismantle temporary partitions and furnishings according to client needs.
  • Assemble, rotate, and disassemble displays, showcases, and signage according to floor plans and client needs.
  • Perform assigned tasks to support the overall execution of events on and off Events East Group property.
  • Transport client and supplier goods from the loading dock to locations within the facility as required.
  • Arrive on time and remain for the duration of the shift; perform other duties as required.
  • Conduct daily rounds to ensure maintenance and cleaning per Events East standards.
  • Treat equipment with care and report violations to the ET Shift Supervisor.
  • Perform general repair and maintenance and report other repairs to the direct Supervisor for follow-up.
  • Report safety hazards promptly and follow departmental procedures to ensure safety of self, team, and clients.
  • Wear and use required PPE and report issues to the direct supervisor.
Qualifications
  • Basic math skills; Grade 12 or equivalent preferred.
  • Basic computer and reading skills; ability to read event documents and floor plans.
  • Experience in a similar physical labour role preferred.
  • Shifts can be up to 12 hours and may include overnight backshifts.
  • Ability to stand, walk, climb, bend, squat, reach, lift, push, and pull as required by the role.

  • Follow PPE usage guidelines and report safety hazards promptly.
  • Comply with department standards, procedures, and equipment operation protocols.
  • Perform daily rounds to maintain facility condition and ensure safe operations.
