Job summary

UNB Libraries in Fredericton is seeking a Library Assistant PL3 to provide frontline, student‑centred service primarily during evening and weekend shifts from September through April, with limited May–August shifts.

Reporting to the Manager of Learning and Engagement, you will help patrons, navigate the library catalogue and circulation system, supervise student assistants, open and close libraries, shelve items, perform stacks maintenance, and respond to reference questions.

Qualifications

• An undergraduate degree is required.
• Experience delivering service in an academic environment is preferred.
• Ability to work evenings and weekends; candidates must be available during those hours.

Responsibilities

• Provide exemplary frontline service to a diverse community of students, faculty, staff and the public.
• Navigate the library catalogue and circulation system with accuracy and discretion.
• Assist in supervising library student assistants and open/close libraries.
• Sort and shelve items, perform stacks maintenance, and handle fines.
• Answer reference questions and refer complex inquiries as needed.
