Job summary

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in office administration or customer support.
  • Minimum 2 years post-secondary education in a related field.
  • High level of computer proficiency in Office 365, video conferencing, and A/V troubleshooting.
  • Quick to learn and absorb new technical systems/platforms (internal websites, software, online management systems).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with judgement, tact, and diplomacy.
  • Proficient with MS Office products (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Detail-oriented and punctual.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with evening class setup and events, including configuring classroom A/V equipment.
  • Answer inquiries from students, faculty, and visitors and provide information or redirect as needed.
  • Take tuition and other payments from students.
  • Ensure classrooms and common areas are clean, organized, and secure at day end.
  • Provide administrative support to faculty and staff during evening classes.

Job description

Reporting to the Manager, Facilities & Events, Vancouver Campus, the Evening Receptionist is a key member and first point of contact for the University and supporting students and faculty during evening classes. The ideal candidate is patient, meticulously organized with an ability to multitask, thrives under pressure and has a strong knowledge of AV equipment and technical troubleshooting capabilities (setting up classroom technology, video recording equipment, and video conferencing systems).

Education / Experience
  • Previous experience in office administration or customer support
  • Minimum 2 years post-secondary education in a related field.
  • High level of computer proficiency in office software (Office 365), video conferencing, and A/V troubleshooting.
  • Quick to learn and absorb new technical systems/platforms (i.e. internal websites, software, online management systems).
  • Strong communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills with a high degree of judgement, tact, and diplomacy.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Strong skills in written/verbal communication
  • Detail-oriented
  • Must be punctual

  • Aid staff, faculty, students, and the public.
  • Take tuition and other payments from students.
  • Ensure common areas are clean and in good order.
  • Set up of classrooms for regularly scheduled classes and special events.
  • Classroom A/V set up and troubleshooting.
  • Ensuring that all classrooms are left in good order and secure at end of day.
  • Provide faculty with administrative support during evening classes.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Manager, Facilities & Events.

Work Environment (Physical Demands): The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally, the job requires 80% sitting, 10% walking, and 10% standing. This job is performed in a generally clean and healthy environment.

Working Hours: Monday-Thursday from 4:30pm-9:30pm

Expected Pay Rate: $20/hour
