Job summary

Halton Region is seeking a part-time Personal Support Worker to join Allendale Long Term Care Facility in Milton. The role supports residents with daily living activities in a home-like setting, under supervision of registered staff.

Evening shifts (1500-2300), up to 16 hours/week, under OPSEU LTC. Requires Vulnerable Sector Check and a current PSW program registration with HSCPOA or active good standing. This temporary position supports residents and contributes to quality care.

Qualifications

• Must have PSW program registered with HSCPOA or be in good standing.
• Must have a secondary diploma and PSW certificate from a recognized college.
• Experience or familiarity with residents' rights and care standards.
• Ability to work independently while coordinating with the team.

Responsibilities

• Provide personal care for residents including all activities of daily living to ensure their optimum physical, social and emotional well-being.
• Communicate effectively with residents, staff and families.
• Provide excellent customer service at all times; be respectful, courteous and pleasant.
• Provide individualized service and create a home-like atmosphere.
• Observe and report changes in the resident’s status.
• Record necessary data (e.g. flow sheets).
• Share responsibility for the care of equipment and residents’ personal belongings.
• Work cooperatively with team members.
• Receive direction from registered staff.
• Participate in quality improvement activities as directed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
