Job summary

Qualifications

  • Master's degree required and 3–5 years of applied data analysis or program evaluation experience.

  • Strong quantitative, analytical and problem-solving skills with aptitude for research and analysis.
  • Ability to program in SAS, R, and SQL to write macros, perform queries, and analyze data.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; translate technical findings for non-technical audiences.
  • Experience in a health care context and handling sensitive data.

Duties And Responsibilities

Reporting to the Senior Director, Student Affairs, and working in close collaboration with the Associate Director, Student Wellness, the Evaluation Lead and Data Analyst provides leadership in evaluation, data analysis, and knowledge mobilization to support projects across Student Wellness Services. This role is an integral member of the team, contributing to strategic planning, policy development, and evidence-informed decision-making at both the departmental, directorate, and institutional level.

The position is responsible for compiling and analyzing large volumes of complex data from multiple systems and sources, and for translating findings into clear, accessible reports, dashboards, and other knowledge-sharing products. In addition to supporting ongoing evaluation and reporting needs, the role proactively identifies emerging trends, issues, and opportunities within student wellness and the post-secondary sector, initiating analyses to inform future planning, program design, and resource allocation.

The Evaluation Lead and Data Analyst provides strategic advice and recommendations to SWS and Student Affairs leadership, synthesizing complex quantitative and qualitative evidence into actionable insights that inform priorities, service planning, and policy direction. The role contributes to both internal and external reporting requirements and supports implementation planning and continuous quality improvement across Student Wellness Services and university-wide initiatives, including the President's Taskforce on Student Mental Health.

The position requires a strong understanding of integrated data systems and data governance practices, ensuring data quality, consistency, and appropriate use of data across sources. The role also supports survey and evaluation design using rigorous methodological approaches, and may contribute to grant development, ethics review processes, and dissemination of findings within and beyond the institution.

The position routinely works with sensitive and confidential data, including personal and health information, and requires a high degree of discretion, sound judgment, and compliance with applicable privacy legislation (e.g., PHIPA, FIPPA). The role operates with a high level of independence, responding to both planned and ad hoc requests, often within tight timelines.

Requirements
  • Master's degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, Statistics, Data Science, Program Evaluation or a related discipline.
  • 3-5 years of applied data analysis or program evaluation experience.
  • Experience working with large survey datasets, administrative data, and program-level evaluation.
