Job summary

Bosch Building Technologies North America seeks an Estimator I to maximize profitable contracts by leading estimating and bid administration with Sales, Design, and PMO. Responsibilities include budgets, cost estimates, and coordinating with subcontractors to deliver complete solutions.

The role requires design experience in IT/AV, strong English communication, and proficiency with Office/Bluebeam. Hybrid office environment in Canada applicable to Metro Vancouver Vancouver region.

Qualifications

• 1+ year design experience in IT, integrated security systems or AV.
• Understanding of physical security, IT and AV trends and applications.
• Familiarity with IP networks, low voltage electronics, power and communications.
• Ability to create and edit design drawings, spreadsheets and handover docs.
• Proficient with MS Office, Bluebeam, Mac OS and project/quoting software.
• Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
• Able to manage multiple tasks and adapt to changing priorities.

Responsibilities

• Prepare cost budgets based on drawings, specs and materials.
• Develop cost estimates for labor, logistics and BOM with engineering, sales and PMO.
• Identify labor, materials and time requirements from proposals and blueprints.
• Compute costs by analyzing labor, materials and time needs.
• Coordinate with subcontractors to provide full solution.
• Obtain best prices from manufacturers and distributors.
• Maintain technical knowledge through workshops and publications.
• Coordinate bid proposal development with stakeholders.

Job description

As an Estimator I with Bosch Building Technologies, your main responsibility will be to maximize the award of profitable contracts by leading estimating and bid administration activities. You will work closely with the Sales, Design, and Project Management team to ensure that our customers are provided with the highest quality service.

Ideal candidates will represent Bosch in a professional manner that aligns with our values of leadership mindset, people development, team, and client focused. A typical day could see you responding to an RFP, meeting with sales team members, working with service and project teams during installation, or working with clients to identify scope requirements.

Responsibilities

• Prepare cost budgets based on drawings, specifications, and other relevant materials
• Work closely with Engineering, Sales, and PMO to develop cost estimates for labor and logistics and detailed BOM
• Identify labor, material, and time requirements by studying proposals, blueprints, specifications, and related documents
• Compute and communicate costs through analysis of labor, material, and time requirements
• Engage subcontractors to augment Paladin’s areas of expertise to provide a complete solution
• Obtain best product prices from manufacturers, distributors, and subcontractors
• Maintaining technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing technical publications, establishing networks
• Coordinating bid proposal development with all relevant stakeholders

Required Qualifications

• A minimum of one year of design experience in the information technology and integrated security systems or Audio-Visual industry
• A strong understanding of the physical security, IT industries and/or AV industry, including an awareness of complimentary products, technologies, trends, and the general application of physical security technology
• An understanding of and experience with fundamental concepts pertaining to IP networks, low voltage electronics, power, and communications.
• Ability to create and edit design drawings, spread sheets, program sheets and projects handover documentation.
• Strong computer skills, with advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, Mac OS, and project / quoting software
• A strong command of the English language supported by excellent written and verbal communication skills
• The ability to simultaneously handle multiple tasks and projects and be responsive to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Highly developed analytical and problem-solving skills
• Motivated self-starter with ambition to independently research new technologies as well as engineering and business methodologies/concepts

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous and progressive experience in the low voltage industry Experience estimating projects
• Experience working with some or all the following systems:
  • Access Control - LenelS2, Software House, Avigilon, Kantech, Genetec, AMAG, RBH
  • CCTV – Milestone, Avigilon, Genetec
  • Intrusion – Bosch, DSC, DMP, Senstar, Southwest Microwave,
  • Network Switching – Cisco, Ruckus, HPE,
  • RTLS – Actall, Guard RFID,
  • Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) – Schneider, Omron
  • Structured cabling - Belden, CommScope, Corning, Panduit
  • Door Hardware - any- considered assets
  • Audio Visual – Crestron, Extron, Neat, etc
• Experience in a technical sales role or system design
• Strong computer skills, with advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, Mac OS, and project / quoting software
• Post-secondary education in electronics, electrical, or equivalent
• Excellent organization and attention to detail

Physical Demands

• Must be able to effectively communicate, (i.e., see, hear, speak, and write clearly) in order to communicate with colleagues and/or customers; manual dexterity required for occasional reaching, lifting of light office objects, and operating office equipment
• Position is a desk job requiring the use of computer, keyboard, and phone

Working Conditions

• The office is clean, orderly, properly lighted, and ventilated. Noise levels are considered low to moderate
• This is a hybrid office position

Pay Rate: $53,000 - $76,000 (DOE)
