Job summary

Bosch Building Technologies North America is seeking an Estimator II to maximize profitable contracts by leading estimating and bid administration. You will work with Sales, Design, and Project Management to deliver high-quality service for customers.

Responsibilities include leading multi-scope estimates, preparing budgets, coordinating with Eng/Sales/PMO, and engaging subcontractors. The role requires strong IT, networking, and communication skills, plus a proactive, analytical mindset.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years design and estimation in IT and structured cabling
  • 5+ years field experience or PMO in low-voltage system installation
  • Strong computer skills in Office, Bluebeam, Mac OS, and quoting software
  • Understand IP networks, low voltage electronics, power and communications
  • Ability to edit design drawings, spreadsheets, and handover docs
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills

Responsibilities

  • Lead estimating for multi-scope opportunities with technical, operational, and commercial inputs

  • Develop cost estimates for labor, logistics and BOM with Eng, Sales, PMO
  • Identify labor, material and time requirements from proposals and specs
  • Compute and communicate project costs across stakeholders
  • Engage subcontractors to provide complete solutions
  • Obtain best product prices from manufacturers and distributors
  • Maintain technical knowledge via workshops and publications
  • Coordinate bid proposal development with stakeholders
  • Regular project status updates to estimation and account managers

Job description

As an Estimator II with Bosch Building Technologies, your main responsibility will be to maximize the award of profitable contracts by leading estimating and bid administration activities. You will work closely with the Sales, Design, and Project Management team to ensure that our customers are provided with the highest quality service.

Responsibilities
  • Lead estimating efforts for multi-scope and multi-discipline opportunities, coordinating technical, operational, and commercial inputs to develop complete, competitive, and profitable proposals
  • Prepare cost budgets based on drawings, specifications, and other relevant materials
  • Work closely with Engineering, Sales, and PMO to develop cost estimates for labor and logistics and detailed BOM
  • Identify labor, material, and time requirements by studying proposals, blueprints, specifications, and related documents
  • Compute and communicate costs through analysis of labor, material, and time requirements
  • Engage subcontractors to augment Bosch's areas of expertise to provide a complete solution
  • Obtain best product prices from manufacturers, distributors, and subcontractors
  • Maintaining technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing technical publications, establishing networks
  • Coordinating bid proposal development with all relevant stakeholders
  • Communicate project status regularly with estimation manager, account manager, and other stakeholders
Required Qualifications
  • A minimum of 3 years of design and estimation experience in information technology and structured cabling systems
  • A minimum of 5 years of technical field experience or project management of low voltage system installation
  • Strong computer skills, with advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, Mac OS, and project / quoting software
  • A strong understanding of network infrastructure, data center design, and IT industries, including an awareness of complimentary products, technologies, and trends
  • An understanding of and experience with fundamental concepts pertaining to IP networks, low voltage electronics, power, and communications
  • Ability to create and edit design drawings, spread sheets, program sheets and projects handover documentation
  • A strong command of the English language supported by excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • The ability to simultaneously handle multiple tasks and projects and be responsive to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Highly developed analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Motivated self-starter with ambition to independently research new technologies as well as engineering and business methodologies/concepts
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous and progressive experience as an estimator in the low voltage/structured cabling industry with demonstrated success completing complicated and complex estimates and designs
  • RCDD (Registered Communications Distribution Designer) certification
  • Experience working with some or all the following systems is preferred:
    • Structured cabling - Belden, CommScope, Corning, Panduit
    • Telecom equipment racks, cabinets, and cable raceway
    • Structured cabling support system and pathway equipment
    • Access Control - LenelS2, Software House, Avigilon, Kantech, Genetec, AMAG, RBH
    • CCTV -- Milestone, Avigilon, Genetec,
    • Intrusion -- Bosch, DSC, DMP, Senstar, Southwest Microwave,
    • Network Switching -- Cisco, Ruckus, HPE
    • RTLS -- Actall, Guard RFID
    • Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) -- Schneider, Omron
    • Door Hardware - any- considered assets
    • Audio Visual -- Crestron, Extron, Neat, etc
  • Experience in a technical sales role or system design
  • Post-secondary education in electronics, electrical, or equivalent
  • Excellent organization and attention to detail
Physical Demands
  • Must be able to effectively communicate, (i.e., see, hear, speak, and write clearly) in order to communicate with colleagues and/or customers; manual dexterity required for occasional reaching, lifting of light office objects, and operating office equipment
  • Position is a desk job requiring the use of computer, keyboard, and phone
Working Conditions
  • The office is clean, orderly, properly lighted, and ventilated. Noise levels are considered low to moderate
  • This is a hybrid office position

$72,000 - $97,000
