Job summary

Classic Fire + Life Safety in Ontario is seeking an Estimator who will prepare quotations by reviewing drawings and specifications for fire protection systems. The role supports teammates in a collaborative environment and contributes to winning bids.

You will lay out sprinkler and related systems, produce take-offs, and communicate with General Contractors, Engineers and Owners. A minimum of three years in the field and knowledge of Ontario codes and NFPA are preferred.

Qualifications

• Experience in sprinkler system design and fire protection projects.
• Minimum 3 years’ field experience.
• Educational background in Fire Protection or related field is an asset.
• Knowledge of Ontario codes and NFPA.
• Strong math and analytical skills.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
• Team player with proven collaboration.
• Willingness to learn and develop skills.
• Ability to work autonomously.
• Dedicated work ethic.
• Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Prepare quotations based on reviewing construction drawings and specifications.
• Lay out fire protection systems, including sprinkler systems, standpipe systems, fire pump and special fire suppression systems in accordance with codes.
• Produce a quantity take off list of material, labour and other construction factors to produce a cost estimate.
• Prepare a detailed quotation letter to send to customer(s) in a competitive situation.
• Communication with General Contractors, Engineers, Architects and Owners.
• Complete site visits to determine existing conditions.
• Meet with clients and build customer relationships.

Description

The Estimator is a motivated, organized, and personable individual willing to contribute his/her experience and expertise in the area of estimating. The Estimator prepares quotations based on reviewing construction drawings and specifications and provides support and assistance to his coworkers in a team environment.

Salary placement within the stated range is determined by evaluating the candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and qualifications, along with internal equity and prevailing market conditions.
