Job summary

Tried & True Builders Ltd. is seeking an experienced estimator for on-site project costing. The role requires 3–5 years of estimating experience and a College/CEGEP education, with duties centered on cost analysis and bid preparations at the job site.

The candidate will read blueprints, perform quantity take-offs, prepare master format estimates, and liaise with engineers, owners and subcontractors to ensure accurate cost projections. This position is strictly on-site in Canada.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of estimating experience required.
• Education: College/CEGEP/technical diploma in construction or related field.
• On-site work only; no remote options.

Responsibilities

• Prepare estimates of labour and/or material costs.
• Prepare pre-qualification submissions to present clients.
• Read blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine work requirements.
• Prepare master format estimates (Class A).
• Operate CADD and other computer software systems.
• Prepare estimates for general expenses and overheads.
• Provide economic feasibility studies and preliminary estimates for proposed projects.
• Create and submit estimate reports, quote sheets and bids forms.
• Utilize quantity take-off procedures.
• Advise on tendering procedures.
• Analyze tenders and recommend awards.
• Set up cost monitoring and reporting systems.
• Monitor and adjust contract expenditures.
• Prepare and maintain directory of supplies and trade contractors.
• Liaise with engineers, architects, owners, contractors and subcontractors on changes and adjustments to cost estimates.
