Job summary

Ausenco, a global engineering and project delivery company, is seeking an Estimator to join the Minerals and Metals team in Vancouver or Calgary. You will develop Capex estimates and support project teams from data collection to final costs.

With 5+ years in estimating, strong numerical, analytical and communication skills, and experience with industry estimating tools, you will help maintain estimate databases and manage changes with management and engineering.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in a similar role ideally with an engineering consulting firm.
• Degree or diploma in engineering, applied science or related field.
• Sound numerical, conceptual and analytical skills, with high attention to detail.
• Strong interpersonal skills and experience working on a project team.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) required.
• Previous experience with industrial estimating software preferred.
• Familiar with AACE classification of estimates is required.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Comfortable interfacing with clients and all levels of management.

Responsibilities

• Maintain accuracy of estimates by collecting data into estimates under the direction of a senior estimator.
• Develop estimates (Capex) for projects through managing estimate models, collecting data and conducting regular reviews.
• Collaborate with other disciplines to collect data on scope and quantities to prepare accurate estimates in all discipline areas.
• Organize estimates by WBS and discipline; calculate wage and unit rates; check quantities and field/office costs.
• Maintain a database of estimate unit rates (labor, equipment, materials, subs) and prepare cost studies using historical data.
• Manage changes impacting estimates through continual contact with Management, Project Managers and Engineering.
