Job summary

Ausenco in Vancouver is seeking a Senior Project Engineer to lead a range of mining and minerals projects across client bases. You will act as Project Engineer and Contracts Package Engineer, coordinating multi-disciplinary teams and interfacing with clients, contractors and sub-consultants to deliver critical project milestones.

We expect 10+ years in mining or industrial capital projects, a 4-year engineering degree, strong communication skills and a willingness to travel.

Qualifications

  • 4-year Engineering degree or related technical degree or diploma.
  • 10+ years of experience in the development, delivery and/or operation of mining, mineral processing projects, or other major industrial capital projects.
  • 3+ years field construction experience and management of contractors.
  • Desire to join a highly technical team delivering value-added solutions.
  • Ability to work with Clients, Contractors, Project Managers and discipline leads to develop execution packages.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Experience with an engineering consulting practice or field engineering is an asset.
  • Estimating, Project Controls, Contracts Management or Project Management experience is an asset.
  • Willingness to travel, including periodic travel to Vancouver if residing elsewhere.

Responsibilities

  • Act as Project Engineer for a variety of assignments across Ausenco’s client base.
  • Act as Contracts Package Engineer and develop contract packages for NA client base.
  • Develop contract packages with engineering input and engage contractors.
  • Prepare project implementation documentation, execution strategy and procurement/contract packaging strategy.
  • Coordinate multi-discipline engineering efforts for timely deliverables.
  • Manage interfaces between engineering, procurement, logistics, contracts and construction.
  • Monitor cost, progress and schedule reports and drive corrective actions.
  • Provide input to weekly and monthly reports.
  • Manage client relationships and interface with sub-consultants and vendors.
  • Participate in continuous improvement of Ausenco design standards and project management procedures.

Our team in Canada is growing. We are currently recruiting for a Senior Project Engineer to join our Minerals and Metals Business line in the Vancouver office.

About The Role
  • Act as Project Engineer for a variety of assignments across Ausenco’s client base
  • Act as Contracts Package Engineer for a variety of assignments across Ausenco’s North American client base.
  • Develop contract packages with engineering input, engage contractors, evaluate packages and manage contract development into execution.
  • Participate in the development and administration of project implementation documentation, execution strategy, and/or procurement and contract packaging strategy
  • Coordinate multi-discipline engineering efforts for timely preparation, evaluation, and recommendation of project deliverables
  • Manage interfaces between engineering / procurement / logistics / contracts and the construction team to resolve issues impeding contractor progress
  • Monitor project cost, progress and schedule reports and coordinate action plans to correct deviations from plan
  • Provide input to weekly and monthly reports
  • Manage client relationships for potential and existing projects and interface directly with sub-consultants, and vendors
  • Participate and advance continuous improvement of Ausenco design standards, project management procedures, and other added value initiatives
About You
  • 4-year Engineering degree or related technical degree or diploma
  • 10+ years of experience in the development, delivery and/or operation of mining, mineral processing projects, or other major industrial capital projects
  • 3+ years field construction experience and management of contractors.
  • Desire to become part of a highly technical team providing ingenious and value-added solutions to our customers
  • Ability to work closely with Clients, Contractors, Project Managers, Construction Managers and Engineering discipline leads to develop packages for execution.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, are essential
  • Demonstrated ability to think "out of the box" to provide our clients with innovative & value-added solutions
  • Experience with an engineering consulting practice or field engineering experience is an asset
  • Estimating, Project Controls, Contracts Management, Quality Management and/or Project Management experience is an asset
  • Willingness to travel when required, including periodic travel to Vancouver if residing elsewhere.

Salary range: $145,000 - $175,000
