Job summary

Agilus is seeking a Senior Estimator in Montreal to prepare, validate, and optimize cost estimates across the EPCM lifecycle for major capital projects. You will collaborate with project teams and stakeholders to ensure accurate, credible estimates aligned with project scope.

The ideal candidate has 15+ years in engineering/construction estimating, with EPC/EPCM experience and strong cost-analysis skills for mining, energy, infrastructure, or oil & gas sectors. Bilingual English/French preferred.

Qualifications

• Degree in Engineering, Construction, or a related discipline with 15+ years of major capital project estimating experience.
• Proven EPC/EPCM estimating background with the ability to develop complete project estimates across the full EPC lifecycle.
• Strong experience preparing Class 5 through Class 1 estimates for mining, energy, infrastructure, or oil & gas projects.
• Skilled in capital cost estimating, including risk factors, contingencies, market conditions, and external cost drivers such as tariffs.

Responsibilities

• Review drawings, specs and contracts to develop estimates aligned with project scope.
• Collaborate with project teams, suppliers and contractors to gather reliable cost data.
• Analyze market conditions and material pricing to support estimate credibility.
• Evaluate cost impacts from scope changes and change orders.
• Develop estimation reports and present findings to stakeholders.

A typical day:

• Review drawings, specifications, and contract documents to develop accurate estimates aligned with project scope.
• Collaborate with project teams, suppliers, and contractors to gather and validate reliable cost data.
• Analyze market conditions, material pricing, and contractual requirements to support estimate accuracy and credibility.
• Evaluate and manage cost impacts from scope changes, change orders, and contractual modifications.
• Identify project risks and uncertainties, incorporate contingencies, and recommend cost optimization strategies.
• Develop clear estimation reports, present findings to stakeholders, and monitor estimate performance throughout the project lifecycle.
• Partner with project managers, planners, engineering, procurement, and contract teams to drive continuous improvement, best practices, and team development.

Successful candidates will have:

• Proficient with estimating software and project controls tools, with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Experienced presenting estimates, assumptions, and recommendations directly to clients and senior stakeholders.
• Excellent communication, influencing, and critical-thinking skills, with the ability to thrive in multidisciplinary environments.
• Bilingual (English/French) preferred
