Job summary

Pomerleau in Canada seeks an experienced Estimator to join our growth-minded team. You will lead and support full-cycle bid processes, research project costs, interpret specs, and prepare accurate take-offs to drive competitive pricing.

Build strong relationships with trade partners and clients, apply innovative pricing solutions, and contribute to ramp-ups across Ontario. A degree or diploma in Engineering or Construction Management and 2–5 years of estimating experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• 2–5 years of relevant estimating experience in construction.
• Degree or diploma in Engineering or Construction Management or equivalent.
• Proven track record in project coordination and teamwork.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Bilingual French and English is a strong asset.

Responsibilities

• Lead and participate in full-cycle bid processes.
• Identify project-specific prices for labour, equipment and materials.
• Interpret technical specifications for bid documents accurately.
• Perform quantity take-offs to ensure pricing accuracy.
• Maintain client pricing requirements to ensure feasibility.
• Develop and sustain relationships with trade partners and clients.
• Think creatively to propose innovative pricing solutions.
• Support project ramp-up and knowledge sharing within the team.

What you will do

• Jump in and collaboratively complete the full-cycle bid process;
• Utilize your research skills at every stage of the process to identify project-specific prices related to key items including labour, equipment and materials;
• With an eye for detail, accurately interpret technical specifications for bid documents;
• Actively complete full quantity take-offs to ensure accuracy of contract specifications and pricing;
• Keep client pricing requirements top-of-mind to ensure feasibility;
• Grow and maintain strong relationships with trade partners, consultants and clients to achieve the project goals and vision;
• Get creative and think outside the box to come up with innovative solutions and opportunities;
• Colour outside the lines and look beyond plans and specifications;
• Actively encourage a learning environment, share your knowledge and be a role model throughout the estimation process with your team;
• Celebrate the successes and be a key member of the project ramp-up process.

This role could be for you if you have

• 2 to 5 years’ relevant experience estimating in the construction industry;
• A University Degree, College Diploma or certificate in Engineering or Construction Management or a combination of education and industry experience;
• A proven track record of project coordination and team collaboration;
• Solid written and verbal communication skills;
• A passion and drive for building relationships;
• Strong computer skills with estimation software and an enthusiasm for innovation;
• Bilingualism in French and English will be considered as a strong asset

Security Clearance Requirement

Please note that this position requires candidates to be eligible to obtain and maintain a Level II (Secret) Security Clearance.
