Job summary

Erosion Control Central ECC in Calgary, AB is seeking an Inspector to join our Calgary Inspection Team. The role involves field inspections, reporting, and addressing erosion and sediment control issues on diverse projects. Hybrid work setup and growth opportunities are offered.

Qualifications

  • At least 1 year of erosion and sediment control inspection experience.
  • Background in environmental sciences or related technical fields.
  • Ability to identify compliance issues and recommend solutions.
  • Excellent communication and client management skills.
  • Physically capable of walking rough terrain and driving between sites.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Water Resources, Environmental Science, or a Related Field (asset).

Responsibilities

  • Conduct onsite inspections at commercial, residential, and infrastructure locations for erosion and sediment control compliance.
  • Issue detailed inspection reports with corrective actions and timelines.
  • Collaborate with contractors, project managers, and site operators to troubleshoot erosion issues.
  • Assess environmental impact of construction activities on wetlands and streams.
  • Provide technical guidance and answer client inquiries on best practices.
  • Ensure compliance with municipal, provincial, and federal regulations.
  • Maintain certifications, training, and compliance records.
  • Occasionally work evenings and weekends to meet deadlines.

Your Responsibilities

  • Work directly with contractors, project managers, and site operators to troubleshoot erosion control issues and develop solutions
  • Assess the environmental impact of construction activities on wetlands, streams, and sensitive areas
  • Provide technical expertise and answer client inquiries about erosion and sediment control best practices
  • Ensure compliance with all municipal, provincial, and federal environmental regulations
  • Maintain all required certifications, training, and compliance records
  • Occasionally work evenings and weekends as needed to meet project deadlines
Who We Are Looking For
  • At least one year of experience in erosion and sediment control inspection, design, or installation
  • Strong background in environmental sciences, water resources, or related technical fields
  • Ability to identify compliance issues and recommend effective solutions
  • Excellent communication and client management skills
  • Physically capable of walking rough terrain, working in all weather conditions, and driving between job sites
  • Strong problem-solving, planning, and critical-thinking skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
Additional Assets That Make You Stand Out
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Water Resources, Environmental Science, or a Related Field
  • Experience reading and interpreting engineering plans and site drawings
  • Certified Inspector of Erosion and Sediment Controls CISEC Certification (must be obtained within 12 months of hire)
  • Valid First Aid, H2S, CSTS, or other safety certifications
