Qualifications

  • Strong communication, facilitation, and documentation skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and related tools.

Position Summary:

The ERC Programs Facilitator provides structured, skills-based programming to individuals incarcerated at the Edmonton Remand Centre (ERC), supporting participants in building practical skills and preparing for successful transition back into the community.

The Facilitator delivers seven core workshops focused on Communication, Financial Literacy, Anger/Stress Management, Employment Preparation, Parenting, Understanding Addiction and Pre-Release Planning. This position is responsible for lesson planning, preparing and maintaining relevant instructional materials, facilitating engaging and inclusive learning environments, and responding to participant Requests for Information (RFI).

Working collaboratively with Edmonton Remand Centre staff, community partners, and other service providers operating within the centre, the Facilitator builds and maintains positive working relationships that support coordinated services and participant success.

Responsibilities:
  • Facilitate structured workshops at the Edmonton Remand Centre focused on Communication, Financial Literacy, Anger/Stress Management, Employment Preparation, Parenting, Understanding Addiction and Pre-Release Planning.
  • Develop and maintain engaging, relevant lesson plans and instructional materials that meet the needs of diverse adult learners.
  • Provide client-centred, strengths-based, trauma-informed support, including referrals, resource navigation, and assistance with relevant forms and applications.
  • Maintain accurate program documentation, data, assessments, reporting, and timely responses to Requests for Information.
  • Build and maintain positive working relationships with ERC staff, community partners, service providers, and enCompass colleagues.
  • Deliver services in accordance with Agency and ERC policies, procedures, security requirements, confidentiality standards, and risk-management practices.
  • Participate in required training, meetings, Agency activities, and other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications / Skills:
  • Diploma or degree in Social Work, Human Services, Criminology, Psychology, Education, or a related field.
  • Minimum three years of relevant experience working with justice-involved individuals, complex or high-risk populations, or within community-based human services.
  • Previous experience facilitating groups, workshops, educational programming, or skills-development sessions.
  • Strong knowledge of the criminal justice system, community resources, and the barriers experienced by individuals transitioning from correctional environments.
  • Demonstrated experience using client-centred, strengths-based, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive approaches.
  • Experience with mental health, addictions, client assessment, motivational interviewing, or reintegration services is considered an asset.
  • Strong communication, facilitation, relationship-building, organizational, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently, maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality, and contribute effectively within a collaborative team environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and general workplace technology.
  • Where applicable, maintain registration and good standing with the appropriate professional body.
Conditions of Employment:
  • This position is classified as a 0.5 FTE position, working 18.75 hours per week Monday to Friday.
  • The successful candidate must be available to work the established hours of the position, including scheduled programming at the Edmonton Remand Centre.
  • Ability to meet all Edmonton Remand Centre security and access requirements.
  • Successful completion of all required employment screening and Agency onboarding requirements.
  • Completion of required Agency core training and position-specific training.
