Job summary

VCA Canada is seeking a full-time ER Veterinary Assistant to join the Calgary Animal Referral and Emergency Centre (CARE Centre), a 24-hour emergency and referral hospital. The role supports AHTs and veterinarians with daily tasks and patient care, including feeding, walking and maintaining housing.

The ideal candidate is energetic, self-motivated, and organized, capable of multitasking in a fast-paced team environment, and committed to exceptional client and patient care.

Qualifications

• Energetic, self-motivated and outgoing with strong organizational skills.
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced hospital environment.
• Commitment to high-quality patient care and client service.

Responsibilities

• Perform proper restraint techniques when assisting AHTs and veterinarians to assess and treat patients.
• Assist veterinarians and AHTs while they collect samples, take radiographs and perform ultrasounds.
• Provide physical and emotional support for patients.
• Help to maintain hospital treatment areas and ensure general cleanliness.
• Other duties as needed for the general maintenance of the ICU and hospital.
