Job summary

Calgary Animal Referral and Emergency Centre is seeking a full-time Radiology Veterinary Assistant to join our growing radiology team. You will work closely with our Associate Veterinarian to manage outpatient radiology appointments and support RVTs.

We value excellent interpersonal and written communication, compassion, and the ability to adapt to clients' needs within a high-functioning team. Training in our ER department is provided.

• Running or submitting blood samples; contacting DVMs for records; cleaning, stocking and assisting RVTs with CT scans.

Veterinary Assistant, Radiology

Location: Calgary, AB

Calgary Animal Referral and Emergency (C.A.R.E.) Centre, a member of VCA Canada, is welcoming a full-time Radiology Veterinary Assistant to join our always-growing facility.

The C.A.R.E. Centre is a fully functioning referral hospital, with board-certified specialists in a wide range of referral services, including internal medicine, surgery, anesthesia, radiology, oncology, ophthalmology, neurology, critical care, cardiology, dermatology, emergency and dentistry/oral surgery. The C.A.R.E. Centre is committed to supporting pet owners and the veterinary community by providing the highest level of animal emergency and referral care.

The successful candidate will possess excellent interpersonal skills and be compassionate, with the ability to adapt to the needs of the clients within the radiology service. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential, as is the ability to work well within a highly functioning team. This person will work closely with our Associate Veterinarian to manage the radiology department’s outpatient appointments.

Primary duties will include: Restraint for the RVT to place IV catheters, holding for ultrasound appointments, liaising with other departments and radiology patient discharges.

Other responsibilities include (but are not limited to): Running or submitting of blood samples, contacting DVMs for records, laundry, stocking and assisting RVTs with CT scans.

Schedule

• 40-hours a week shifts over the Monday - Friday period.
• Applicants will undergo training for this position, which includes spending time in our ER department to learn the ins/outs of the clinic.
