Job summary

Brant is seeking a maintenance worker to operate light, medium and heavy equipment for public works projects. The role includes winter operations, maintenance, and repairs under the County of Brant Public Works department.

The position requires a valid Class D license with Z endorsement and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced team, with good communication and safety practices emphasized throughout the recruitment process.

Qualifications

• Secondary school education or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Good technical and mechanical skills.
• Valid Class D license with Z endorsement with an acceptable abstract.
• Ability to operate light, medium and heavy equipment including tandem dump truck, loader/backhoe, snowplow/sander, tractors, chainsaws, weed eaters, etc.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced team environment.
• Good communication skills (verbal and written).
• Demonstrated safe work practices per applicable legislation.

Location: Initial Placement – To be determined

Minimum Qualifications

• Secondary school education or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Good technical and mechanical skills
• Valid Class D license with Z endorsement with an acceptable abstract
• Ability to operate light, medium, and heavy equipment, including but not limited to standard transmission tandem dump truck, loader/backhoe, snowplow/sander, tractors, chainsaws, weed eaters, etc.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced team environment
• Good communication skills (both verbal and written)
• Demonstrated safe work practices (in compliance with applicable legislation, i.e. Occupational Health & Safety Act, Ontario Traffic Manual Book 7, County of Brant Health & Safety Policies & Procedures, etc.)

Assets

• Experience with and demonstrated ability to operate road grader
• Knowledge related to Public Works

Current Hourly Rate

$26.75/hour – Probationary Rate 40 hours/week

$33.16/hour – Full Time Rate
