Position Summary: The Youth Program Coordinator plays a key leadership role in designing, coordinating, and advancing programming for the Unnamed Youth project and Healthy Individuals Vibrant Environment. These programs focus on promoting the health, wellbeing, and resilience of children, youth, and families. This position combines hands‑on program delivery with strategic community partnership development, working collaboratively with staff, volunteers, youth, and community organizations to create supportive environments that reduce the impact of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and foster upstream youth prevention.
The Coordinator works closely with community partners, including Public Health South East, youth representatives, and other Kingston Community Health Centres programs and initiatives to strengthen systems that support youth health across the KFLA region. The role may require on occasion to be actively present during program hours, primarily after school and Saturday mornings, ensuring high‑quality, trauma‑informed programming and meaningful community engagement.
Key Responsibilities
Program Development, Delivery & Facilitation
- Design and deliver structured, trauma‑informed group activities that build resilience, support youth wellbeing, and strengthen families.
- Develop, coordinate, and oversee the delivery of parenting programs, including workshops, group sessions, and presentations by guest speakers.
- Be actively present during program hours (primarily after school and Saturdays) to ensure smooth, safe, and engaging program operations.
- Oversee weekly logistics including setup, scheduling, resource management, and activity coordination.
- Adapt programming based on feedback, participant needs, and cultural considerations.
- Coordinate with experts, youth, and partners to enhance program content and curriculum‑based activities.
Staff & Volunteer Coordination
- Supervise and support Site Support Workers and volunteers during program delivery.
- Lead onboarding, scheduling, training, and ongoing communication to support the team.
- Monitor engagement and implement strategies to strengthen staff and volunteer participation.
Community Engagement, Partnerships & Coalition Support
- Lead partnership development and coordination across community organizations, municipalities, youth groups, and Kingston Community Health Centres programs.
- Organize and support community partnerships including youth representatives to advance project milestones and shared objectives.
- Serve as the primary liaison between participating communities and project steering committees.
- Apply community‑development and health‑promotion expertise to strengthen project activities and support upstream youth prevention.
- Collaborate with partners and coalitions to identify and advance evidence‑informed solutions related to youth wellbeing and substance‑use prevention.
- Promote program initiatives to stakeholders and engage communities across the KFLA region, including regular travel for outreach and partnership‑building.
Program Support, Strategic Planning & Resource Development
- Gather feedback from youth, families, and partners to inform program improvements and community‑based planning.
- Support project adaptation and alignment with broader public health and prevention priorities.
- Prepare and deliver presentations, updates, and materials for meetings, committees, and public events.
- Contribute to funding sustainability by assisting with grant applications, gathering information, and supporting resource development.
- Participate in team meetings, planning sessions, working groups, and community events.
- Lead regular project review to assess progress, identify gaps, and ensure alignment with program goals and community needs.
- Lead or support project improvement initiatives to strengthen program delivery, partnership effectiveness, and participant outcomes.
Data Collection, Evaluation & Reporting
- Track attendance, engagement, and program participation.
- Collect and analyze qualitative and quantitative data to measure outcomes and support quality improvement.
- Complete required reports, work plans, and documentation for supervisors, funders, and steering committees.
- Maintain accurate program and participant records to meet evaluation and reporting requirements.
- Develop evaluation plans and data‑collection methods to measure program effectiveness.
- Support the implementation, tracking, and reporting of project evaluations.
- Contribute to project evaluation by gathering, analyzing, and summarizing data to support evidence‑based decision‑making.
Organizational Responsibilities
- Comply with all relevant legislation and KCHC policies, including privacy laws.
- Commit to acquiring an understanding of the importance of trauma responsiveness and the impact of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs).

- Supports consistent application and development of KCHC policies and procedures.

- On occasion, perform other temporary duties as required.
Basic Education and Experience Requirements
- Post‑secondary degree or diploma in related field.
- 2 years’ experience as a mentor/youth worker/program leader with youth or families.
- Experience in program implementation, monitoring and evaluation using a quality improvement approach.
- Strong understanding of the social needs of youth, effective group facilitation strategies, and positive group dynamics.
- Experience working with and supporting individuals and families in low‑income or underserved communities.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Experience with group programming and volunteers.
- Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of youth needs, group dynamics, and trauma‑informed practice.
- Reliable attendance and ability to meet physical demands.
- Availability for regular evening hours.
- Awareness of and adherence to KCHC privacy practices and confidentiality.
- Proficiency with computers and relevant software.
- Commitment to continuous learning, quality improvement, and teamwork.
- Ability to work with diverse communities and support health‑promotion principles.
- Contribute to data collection, evaluation, meetings, and Centre activities.
- Support student/volunteer placements and organizational development efforts.
- Additional languages an asset.
Other Requirements
- Current and satisfactory Criminal and Vulnerable Persons Check.
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the position.
- Other languages including French an asset.
- CPR/First Aid training an asset.
- Available to work evening and weekends as required.
