  • Inspect completed work to ensure quality and compliance.
  • Inspect work for quality, safety and code compliance.
  • Operate and maintain carpentry tools/equipment safely.
  • Provide leadership to apprentices and labourers.
  • Assist with estimates, material lists, and records.
  • Collaborate with supervisors, clients and trades to ensure timely delivery.

Job description

Pickerel Contracting Ltd. is seeking an experienced and dedicated Licensed Carpenter to join our team full-time. Reporting to the Housing Manager, the Licensed Carpenter will be responsible for the construction, installation, repair, and maintenance of residential and community buildings in Henvey Inlet First Nation.

This position requires strong technical skills in both structural and finishing carpentry. The successful candidate will be dependable, safety-focused, and capable of working independently or as part of a team. Opportunities for career growth and advancement are available.

Job Details
  • Employment Type: Full-time (40+ hours per week)
  • Start Date: To be determined

Key Responsibilities
  • Interpret and apply blueprints, drawings, and project specifications.
  • Construct, install, and repair structural components such as walls, floors, roofs, doors, windows, and stairs.
  • Complete interior finishing work including drywall, flooring, trim, cabinetry, and painting.
  • Build and repair exterior features such as decks, siding, porches, and roofing systems.
  • Prepare and pour concrete, including formwork for foundations and slabs.
  • Inspect completed work to ensure quality, safety, and compliance with building codes.
  • Safely operate and maintain carpentry tools, equipment, and machinery.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to apprentices and labourers.
  • Assist with the preparation of estimates, material lists, and project records.
  • Collaborate effectively with supervisors, clients, and other trades to support timely project delivery.
