Job summary

Hatfield is seeking a field-oriented environmental professional to conduct aquatic and fisheries assessments across British Columbia. You will perform electrofishing, habitat assessments, sampling, and field data collection while ensuring quality and safety.

The role includes travel to remote project sites and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams. Requirements include 1+ year in environmental consulting, related degree, and a valid Canadian driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Minimum one year of environmental consulting or related field experience.
• Experience conducting fisheries and aquatic field assessments, including electrofishing and benthic invertebrate sampling.
• Experience with surface water quality sampling and environmental monitoring programs.
• Knowledge of provincial and federal environmental regulations and standard field protocols.
• A valid Canadian driver’s license for the past three years, and the ability to meet the requirements for our third-party automobile insurance policy.

Responsibilities

• Collect, record, and manage environmental field data while ensuring accuracy and quality.
• Prepare, calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot field equipment.
• Support the analysis, interpretation, and management of environmental monitoring data.
• Assist with the preparation of technical reports, figures, and field summaries.
• Travel to project sites throughout British Columbia and work safely in remote environments under varying weather conditions.
• Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary project teams while maintaining Hatfield's commitment to safety, quality, and client service.

Compensation

Salary: $55k - $63k.
