We’re a small, tight-knit team that values mutual respect, clear communication, and doing meaningful work together.

Position Overview

We're hiring a Restoration Technician to join our field crew and work on ecological restoration projects throughout the Lower Mainland.

You’ll work alongside experienced restoration staff while gaining practical experience in invasive species management, native and invasive plant identification, planting, ecological monitoring, and other restoration techniques.

  • Represent Echo Ecological respectfully when interacting with the public, project partners, and First Nations collaborators

Reality of the Role

This is a physically demanding outdoor job. Most days are spent outside doing hands-on restoration work in conditions that can include rain, heat, cold, mud, steep terrain, and dense vegetation. Some tasks are repetitive, and you’ll regularly use hand tools and carry loads up to 30 kg.

You’ll also get to work in natural areas throughout the Lower Mainland, learn about local ecosystems, and see the tangible results of your work.

Who We’re Looking For
  • Is reliable and shows up ready to work
  • Enjoys working outdoors and doesn’t mind getting dirty
  • Works well as part of a small team
  • Is interested in ecology and eager to learn
  • Can take direction while also working independently
  • Communicates respectfully with coworkers, partners, and the public
  • Is adaptable and able to handle changing project needs and field conditions
Requirements
  • Valid Class 5 driver's licence and access to a reliable vehicle
  • Able to safely lift and carry up to 30 kg

  • Previous experience in ecological restoration, landscaping, gardening, forestry, or other physically demanding outdoor work
  • Experience with environmental education, community engagement, or working with volunteers
  • Emergency First Aid & CPR certification

Previous field experience is strongly preferred, but you don’t need to meet every asset listed above. If you’re excited about ecological restoration and think you’d be a good fit for our crew, we encourage you to apply.

This position is supported through a youth employment program. Applicants must:

  • Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or protected person under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act
