SilvacomLtd. is seeking a Restoration Field Technician to tackle environmental and land-management challenges across Canada. Based in Alberta, the role blends fieldwork with office tasks within the Energy & Environment team, supporting municipal, forestry, oil & gas, and government clients.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree or diploma in forestry, environmental science, ecology, or related discipline.
  • Eligible for professional designation such as RPF, RPFT, P.Bio., P.Ag., EP, or equivalent.
  • Experience in habitat restoration, reclamation, or related fieldwork is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with habitat restoration planning, implementation, and monitoring programs.
  • Conduct field assessments and collect environmental, vegetation, and geospatial data.
  • Support field operations, equipment operators, and contractors during implementation.
  • Monitor sites to track vegetation establishment and site recovery.
  • Record observations and prepare technical reports, maps, and regulatory docs.
  • Coordinate day-to-day field tasks, schedules, and contractors.
  • Support client engagement and stakeholder communications.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and knowledge sharing within the team.

Job Title: Restoration Field Technician

Location:This is an Alberta-based position, in-office or hybrid within the Edmonton or Calgary area.

The Role:

You will play a key role in solving complex environmental and land management challenges across Canada. Working within our Energy & Environment team, you will support a diverse portfolio of projects for clients in the municipal, forestry, oil and gas, utility, government, and broader resource sectors. This position combines both field and office responsibilities.You will help carry out habitat restoration and reclamation projects on the ground, from site preparation and planting through to monitoring and data collection. It suits someone who enjoys physical outdoor work, learning restoration techniques in the field, and working closely with project teams, contractors, and equipment operators.

What You'll Do:
  • Assist with habitat restoration planning, implementation, and monitoring programs
  • Conduct field assessments and collecting environmental, vegetation, and geospatial data
  • Assistfield operations, equipment operators, and contractors during implementation
  • Monitor restoration and reclamation sites to track vegetation establishment, survival, and site recovery
  • Record field observations andprepare technical reports, maps, presentations, and regulatory documentation
  • Coordinate day-to-day field tasks, schedules, and contractors
  • Support client engagement and stakeholder communications
  • Contribute to continuous improvement, innovation, and knowledge development within the team
What you Bring:
  • Demonstrated interest in habitat restoration, reclamation, or revegetation, with a desire to build field skills
  • Demonstrated ability and willingness to work safely in remote field environments and varying weather conditions
  • Experience conducting fieldwork related to forestry, environmental monitoring, restoration, or natural resource projects
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • High attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work
  • Self-motivated with a strong desireto learn and grow professionally
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced consulting environment
  • Proficiencywith Microsoft Office applications
  • Experience with GIS software (QGIS, ArcGIS, or equivalent) would be considered an asset
  • Project coordination or project management experience would be considered an asset
Preferred Assets:
  • Experienceworkingin environmental operations and with equipment operators
  • Experience with revegetation, planting, seeding, or reclamation work
  • Silvicultureexperience
  • Experience operating ATVs/UTVs, snowmobiles, or other off-road equipment
  • Valid First Aid certification
  • Drone pilot certification
Academic Qualifications:
  • Undergraduate degree or diploma in forestry, environmental science, ecology, natural resource management, environmental planning, agriculture, geography, GIS, or a related discipline
  • Eligible for or working toward a professional designation such as:
    • RPF, RPFT,P.Bio.,P.Ag.,EP,or equivalent
Working Conditions:
  • Field work may involve travel to project sites acrossAlberta / Western Canada, including remote locations, for periods of upto10daysat a time
  • Fieldwork can involve working in variable weather, walking over uneven terrain, and carrying equipment
  • Reasonable physical fitness isrequiredfor the field portions of the role
  • A valid Class 5 driver's licence and a satisfactory driver's abstract arerequired
  • A company vehicle will be provided for field travel
  • Overnight stays in field or camp accommodations may berequiredduring active field seasons
