Join Our Team as Environmental Sustainability Manager: Shaping the Future of Battery Technology

About Vianode

Vianode is an advanced battery materials company providing sustainable anode graphite solutions for the battery and EV value chains in North America and Europe. Vianode’s breakthrough solution enables tailored high-performance synthetic anode graphite and holistic sustainability offering a 90% reduction in CO2 footprint. Vianode operates the world's most sustainable full-scale anode graphite plant for batteries at Herøya Norway.

The next step involves executing a multi-billion dollar phased investment program dedicated to establishing large-scale plants across North America and Europe.

Vianode’s long-term ambition is to supply advanced battery materials to 3 million EVs per year by 2030. Vianode is owned by the world-leading financial company Altor.

About the Role

As the Environmental Sustainability Manager, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing Vianode’s environmental strategy. You will lead key initiatives to reduce our carbon footprint, ensure compliance with environmental standards, and support both internal and external stakeholders in sustainability matters.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess Life Cycle Assessments (LCAs) and maintain a deep understanding of Vianode’s CO₂ footprint.
  • Serve as the primary contact for customers on environmental sustainability topics.
  • Evaluate the CO₂ footprint of products under development and provide strategic input.
  • Develop and implement environmental strategies and performance targets.
  • Lead decarbonization projects across the organization.
  • Support and monitor progress of sustainability targets and data owners.
  • Own and maintain the environmental sustainability policy and governance framework.
  • Lead and coordinate internal environmental audits.
  • Support financing and investor relations by ensuring compliance with frameworks such as the Equator Principles.
  • Assist local production sites with environmental compliance and data collection.
  • Oversee environmental governance and target-setting in construction projects.
  • Manage climate change and environmental reporting, ensuring accuracy and transparency.
  • Develop and enhance environmental reporting systems.
  • Contribute to the annual sustainability report and other ESG disclosures.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience with Life Cycle Assessments (LCAs),sustainability strategy, sustainability in financing, or sustainability reporting is preferred.
  • Strong project management and presentation skills.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain strong stakeholder relationships.
  • Highly structured, detail-oriented, and analytical.
  • Passionate about data, numbers, and continuous improvement.
  • Self-driven, proactive, and full of initiative.

Location: Onsite, South West Ontario (specific location TBC)

  • In the short term, this role will be temporarily remotewith travel for visitsonsite, GTAarea or internationally as needed.
