Intent of the process
The intent of this process is to staff one (1) indeterminate position. A pool of qualified candidates may be established, and the results may be used to staff same or similar positions for future vacancies of various tenures at Public Services and Procurement Canada.

Operational Requirements:

• Possession of a valid class “G” driver license or equivalent, or personal mobility to the extent normally associated with the possession of a valid driver’s license
• Able and willing to travel to remote sites, construction work sites to access areas of work for inspection or assessment.
• Willing and able to work overtime, as required.

Your application must clearly explain how you meet the following

Education:
Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution, with acceptable specialization in physics, geology, environmental sciences, environmental studies, environmental engineering, biology, ecology, chemistry, earth sciences, physical geography, or other science or applied science directly relevant to the position.

Experience:

• 1. Experience working on contaminated sites projects involving one or more of the following disciplines:
  • a. Phased Environmental Site Assessments
  • b. Environmental Risk Assessments
  • c. Remediation
• 2. Experience working with stakeholders or contractors or consultants (including sub contractors) during the execution of environmental projects
• 3. Experience in implementing project management principles (for example: schedule development, budget control)

Applied / assessed at a later date

Knowledge:

• 4. Knowledge of contaminated sites management (i.e. phased environmental site assessments, risk assessments and remediation) including federal environmental guidelines.
• 5. Knowledge of project management principles.

Language requirements (essential for the job)

Education:

• 1. Master’s degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in a field relevant to the duties of the position.
• 2. Certificate as a Professional Engineer or Professional Geologist in Canada.
• 3. Certificate as a Project Management Professional (PMP) from the Project Management Institute (PMI).

Experience:

• 1. Experience working on Phase I, II or III Environmental Site Assessment.
• 2. Experience working on Human Health or Ecological Risk Assessment.
• 3. Experience working on remediation projects through design, implementation and close out phases.
• 4. Experience working with federal, provincial or municipal environmental regulatory agencies, Indigenous Communities or other stakeholders regarding contaminated sites.
• 5. Experience working on Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) environmental site assessment or risk assessment.
• 6. Experience working in the assessment or remediation of contaminated sediments.
• 7. Experience as Qualified Person (QP) Environmental Site Assessment (ESA) for Record of Site Conditions (RSC) submissions to Ontario Ministry of Environment, Conservation and Parks under O.Reg.153/04 as amended, with proof, dates and site name.
• 8. Experience as QP Risk Assessment (RA) for RSC submissions to Ontario MECP under O.Reg.153/04 as amended, with proof, dates and site name.
