Job summary

MacLeod Cares Mahone Bay Nursing Home is a 96-bed long-term care facility in Mahone Bay, NS seeking an Environmental Services Manager to lead Maintenance, Housekeeping and Laundry, ensuring a safe, compliant, and home-like environment for Residents.

Reporting to the Director Support Services, you will oversee building systems, HR activities, budgeting, and collaboration with the management team to deliver reliable services and a supportive workplace culture.

Qualifications

• Certificate or diploma in Building Systems or related field.
• 5 years of experience with building trades including plumbing, electrical, mechanical.
• Knowledge of Health & Safety Act, Building Code, CSA Standards.
• Proficient with MS Word, Excel, and email.
• Strong communication and dependable organizational skills.
• Leadership experience in managing teams and budgets.
• Ethical, collaborative, and privacy-conscious.
• Ability to supervise and coach staff effectively.

Responsibilities

• Oversee Environmental Services including Maintenance, Housekeeping and Laundry.
• Ensure safety and regulatory compliance across departments.
• Manage building systems for optimal operation.
• Lead HR activities: onboarding, coaching, scheduling, performance reviews.
• Oversee departmental budgets, purchasing, and inventory.
• Collaborate with management to meet organizational goals.
