Job summary

Alberta Health Services (AHS) is seeking a dependable Environmental Services II to clean and disinfect patient rooms and clinical areas in Red Deer Regional Hospital. The role covers offices and public spaces with training provided to meet AHS standards.

Shifts include day, evening, and weekend rotations. As part of Linen and Environmental Services, you will perform floor care, restock supplies, and report hazards.

Qualifications

• Completion of Grade 10 or equivalent.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
• Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs and push/pull up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Sweep, mop and vacuum areas including patient and staff spaces.
• Restock supplies in bathrooms and common areas.
• Disinfect surfaces and operate cleaning equipment per standards.
• Strip and remake linens, handle laundry tasks as needed.
• Identify hazards and report to supervisor, support training when required.

Your Opportunity:

Alberta Health Services (AHS) is looking for a dependable, highly motivated individual for the position of Environmental Services II (cleaner/housekeeper trained to work in healthcare) that is dedicated to both high-quality work and safety. AHS will provide the necessary training to safely clean and disinfect patient rooms, clinical areas, office areas, and other common staff/public areas in accordance with Alberta Health Services standards and practices. Shift schedules may include a combination of day, evening, and weekend shifts.

Description:

As an Environmental Services staff, you will be responsible for a variety of tasks associated with cleaning and disinfecting clinical and non-clinical healthcare environments within a hospital or facility. Your typical duties may include sweeping, mopping and vacuuming; restocking supplies in bathroom facilities; stripping linen and making beds; operating industrial cleaning equipment for floor maintenance and restoration; thorough washing of ceilings and windows; emptying hazardous waste; and replenishing cleaning supplies and linens. You will also be responsible for identifying and reporting potential hazards to your Working Leader and you may also provide training or orientation to Environmental or Laundry staff.
