Job summary

Alberta Health Services is seeking an Environmental Services cleaner/housekeeper to support clinical and non-clinical areas at Redwater Health Centre. You will perform routine and deep cleaning, stocking, and sanitizing to keep spaces safe and welcoming for staff, patients, and families.

The role is casual/relief with varied shifts; you will join over 6,000 Environmental Service workers dedicated to high cleanliness standards and patient safety.

Qualifications

• Completion of Grade 10 or equivalent.
• Knowledge and operation of computers and smartphones.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
• Physically capable to lift 25–50 lbs and push/pull up to 50 lbs.
• General knowledge of cleaning techniques.
• Effective communication in verbal and written format.

Responsibilities

• Sweep, mop and vacuum in clinical and non-clinical areas.
• Restock supplies in bathrooms and patient areas.
• Strip linen and make beds as needed.
• Operate industrial cleaning equipment for floors.
• Thoroughly wash ceilings and windows; remove hazardous waste.
• Replenish cleaning supplies and linens; report hazards.
• Assist with training of Environmental or Laundry staff.

The Environmental Services – Cleaner/Housekeeper performs a range of cleaning services in clinical and non-clinical areas, including treatment rooms, staff areas, and public spaces. They will also perform non-routine and deep cleaning tasks, as well as use industrial equipment to perform their work.You will join a team of over 6,000 Environmental Service workers making a difference every day by cleaning, sanitizing, organizing, and restocking to make sure everyone’s experience at AHS is safe, clean, and healthy.

Description:

As an Environmental Services staff, you will be responsible for a variety of tasks associated with cleaning and disinfecting clinical and non-clinical healthcare environments within a hospital or facility. Your typical duties may include sweeping, mopping and vacuuming; restocking supplies in bathroom facilities; stripping linen and making beds; operating industrial cleaning equipment for floor maintenance and restoration; thorough washing of ceilings and windows; emptying hazardous waste; and replenishing cleaning supplies and linens. You will also be responsible for identifying and reporting potential hazards to your Working Leader and you may also provide training or orientation to Environmental or Laundry staff.
