Job summary

Alberta Health Services is seeking a dependable Environmental Services II to clean and disinfect patient rooms, clinical areas, offices and public spaces in a healthcare setting. You will follow AHS standards and practices with training provided.

Shifts may include days, evenings and weekends across a hospital environment. Typical duties include sweeping, mopping, restocking bathroom supplies, linen handling, operating cleaning equipment, and reporting potential hazards to the Working Leader.

Qualifications

• Completion of Grade 10 or equivalent.
• Knowledge and operation of computers and smartphones.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and perform repetitive movements during shift.
• Physically capable to lift up to 25 lbs and push/pull up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

Alberta Health Services (AHS) is looking for a dependable, highly motivated individual for the position of Environmental Services II (cleaner/housekeeper trained to work in healthcare) that is dedicated to both high-quality work and safety. AHS will provide the necessary training to safely clean and disinfect patient rooms, clinical areas, office areas, and other common staff/public areas in accordance with Alberta Health Services standards and practices. Shift schedules may include a combination of day, evening, and weekend shifts.

Description:

As an Environmental Services staff, you will be responsible for a variety of tasks associated with cleaning and disinfecting clinical and non-clinical healthcare environments within a hospital or facility. Your typical duties may include sweeping, mopping and vacuuming; restocking supplies in bathroom facilities; stripping linen and making beds; operating industrial cleaning equipment for floor maintenance and restoration; thorough washing of ceilings and windows; emptying hazardous waste; and replenishing cleaning supplies and linens. You will also be responsible for identifying and reporting potential hazards to your Working Leader and you may also provide training or orientation to Environmental or Laundry staff.
