Job summary

Alberta Health Services is seeking an Environmental Services staff member to clean and disinfect clinical and non-clinical healthcare environments within a hospital or facility, including linens, bathrooms, and patient areas.

The role involves operating cleaning equipment, restocking supplies, reporting hazards, and potentially training staff. It is a temporary part-time position at Fairview Health Complex with a shift pattern including days, nights and weekends.

Qualifications

• Knowledge and operation of computers and smartphones.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and perform repetitive movements.
• Physically capable to lift up to 25 lbs and push and pull up to 50 lbs of force.

Responsibilities

• Sweep, mop and vacuum to maintain cleanliness.
• Restock bathroom facilities and replenish cleaning supplies.
• Operate cleaning equipment for floor maintenance and restoration.
• Identify hazards and report to Working Leader.
• May provide training or orientation to Environmental or Laundry staff.
• Handle waste and linen-related duties as required.

Your Opportunity

In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Remote Retention Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $3,000. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.

Description

As an Environmental Services staff, you will be responsible for a variety of tasks associated with cleaning and disinfecting clinical and non-clinical healthcare environments within a hospital or facility. Your typical duties may include sweeping, mopping and vacuuming; restocking supplies in bathroom facilities; stripping linen and making beds; operating industrial cleaning equipment for floor maintenance and restoration; thorough washing of ceilings and windows; emptying hazardous waste; and replenishing cleaning supplies and linens. You will also be responsible for identifying and reporting potential hazards to your Working Leader and you may also provide training or orientation to Environmental or Laundry staff.
