Job summary

Alberta Health Services in Medicine Hat is seeking Environmental Services staff to clean and disinfect clinical and non-clinical healthcare environments within a hospital or facility. Duties include sweeping, mopping, restocking and operating cleaning equipment.

Casual/Relief Employment with shifts in evenings, nights and weekends at Medicine Hat Regional Hospital. Training may be provided and hazardous conditions should be reported to the supervisor.

Qualifications

• Grade 10 completion or equivalent.
• Ability to operate computers and smartphones.
• Ability to stand, walk, and perform repetitive movements for shift duration.
• Capable of lifting up to 25 lbs and pushing/pulling up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Clean and disinfect clinical and non-clinical healthcare environments.
• Sweep, mop, vacuum, and maintain floors.
• Restock bathroom supplies and linen as needed.
• Operate industrial cleaning equipment and perform floor maintenance.
• Identify hazards and report to supervisor; may train staff.

As an Environmental Services staff, you will be responsible for a variety of tasks associated with cleaning and disinfecting clinical and non-clinical healthcare environments within a hospital or facility. Your typical duties may include sweeping, mopping and vacuuming; restocking supplies in bathroom facilities; stripping linen and making beds; operating industrial cleaning equipment for floor maintenance and restoration; thorough washing of ceilings and windows; emptying hazardous waste; and replenishing cleaning supplies and linens. You will also be responsible for identifying and reporting potential hazards to your Working Leader and you may also provide training or orientation to Environmental or Laundry staff.

Required Qualifications:
