Job summary

Alberta Health Services (AHS) is seeking an Environmental Services II to clean and disinfect patient rooms, clinical areas and common spaces in hospitals following AHS standards. Training will be provided for healthcare-specific cleaning practices.

Your duties include sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, restocking supplies, and linen handling. Shifts may include days, evenings, nights and weekends; this is a casual/relief role with AUPE GSS union and a standard hourly wage.

Qualifications

• Completion of Grade 10 or equivalent; basic computer and smartphone use.
• Ability to stand/walk for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs, push/pull up to 50 lbs.
• Able to work with minimal supervision; dependable; open availability to cover varying hours.

Responsibilities

• Sweep, mop, vacuum and restock supplies; strip linen and make beds.
• Operate cleaning equipment for floor maintenance; wash ceilings and windows.

Alberta Health Services (AHS) is looking for a dependable, highly motivated individual for the position of Environmental Services II (cleaner/housekeeper trained to work in healthcare) who is dedicated to both high-quality work and safety. AHS will provide the necessary training to safely clean and disinfect patient rooms, clinical areas, office areas, and other common staff/public areas in accordance with Alberta Health Services standards and practices. Shift schedules may include a combination of day, evening, nights, and weekend shifts. In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Remote Retention Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $3,000. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.

Description:

As an Environmental Services staff, you will be responsible for a variety of tasks associated with cleaning and disinfecting clinical and non-clinical healthcare environments within a hospital or facility. Your typical duties may include sweeping, mopping and vacuuming; restocking supplies in bathroom facilities; stripping linen and making beds; operating industrial cleaning equipment for floor maintenance and restoration; thorough washing of ceilings and windows; emptying hazardous waste; and replenishing cleaning supplies and linens. You will also be responsible for identifying and reporting potential hazards to your Working Leader and you may also provide training or orientation to Environmental or Laundry staff.

Must be dependable and able to work with minimal supervision. Preference given to candidates with open availability to cover varying operational hours. This role also requires you to work on short notice.
