Job summary

AECOM is seeking an experienced Environmental Project Manager in Markham, Ontario to manage environmental site assessments and excess soil projects. You will lead field programs and maintain client relationships while ensuring compliance with regulations and company standards.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of consulting experience in environmental site assessments, remediation, and/or excess soil management.
  • 10+ years of relevant experience with a professional designation (e.g., P.Eng., P.Geo.) is preferred.
  • Experience working with Metrolinx and Ministry of Transportation is preferred.

Job Description

Role: Environmental Project Manager, Scientist, or Engineer.

Location: Ontario, Canada (Hybrid work). Compensation: CAD 99,000 – 138,000 per year.

Responsibilities
  • Manage environmental site assessment and excess soil projects, including planning, execution, reporting, and overall project delivery.
  • Lead the design and implementation of field programs, including soil, groundwater, sediment, and surface water sampling, ensuring adherence to technical standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary technical resources, subcontractors, and field teams to meet project objectives, schedules, and quality expectations.
  • Prepare, review, and validate scopes of work, cost estimates, project schedules, and technical deliverables.
  • Contribute to and lead the development of strategic, multi‑disciplinary proposals and client presentations.
  • Maintain and strengthen client relationships through proactive communication, issue resolution, and delivery of high‑quality work.
  • Apply strong project controls, including scope management, forecasting, budgeting, change management, and risk mitigation.
  • Provide technical input on environmental site assessments, excess soil management plans, data interpretation, conceptual site models, and remediation strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with AECOM’s quality management systems, health and safety requirements, and project risk management practices.
  • Mentor and support junior and intermediate staff through technical guidance, field oversight, and career development.
  • Collaborate with senior leaders, project managers, and technical specialists across AECOM’s regional and national teams to support project delivery and business growth.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
  • 8+ years of consulting experience in environmental site assessments, remediation and/or excess soil management.
  • Knowledge and experience working with Ontario Regulations 153/04 and 406/19.
  • Strong leadership and coordination skills.
  • Valid driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 10+ years of relevant experience and professional designation (e.g., P.Eng., P.Geo.) and ability to act as a Qualified Person under Ontario Regulation 153/04.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in environmental science, studies, engineering, or a related field is required.
  • Experience working with Metrolinx, Ministry of Transportation (MTO) and/or mid/downstream oil and gas clients.
  • Knowledge of risk assessment, remediation strategies, sediment sampling, remedial system design and/or operation considered an asset.
Additional Information

Offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The range for this position is $99,000 – 138,000.
