Qualifications

WSP has a new opportunity for an Intermediate Environmental Monitor to join our Ecology and Environmental Planning & Permitting team on a full-time basis based in Vancouver, BC to serve our Lower Mainland key clients.

What you can expect to do here:

  • You will provide leadership in health and safety
  • You will assist in developing and leading field programs for environmental overview assessments for various types of resource development projects
  • You will develop erosion and sediment control plans, including associated monitoring
  • You will do construction management including environmental orientations and monitoring
  • You will collaborate with multiple discipline leads to support field crews and overseeing quality control of field methods and data collection in accordance with internal standard work instructions
  • You will support developing scopes of work and costs estimates
  • You will prepare and review technical reporting
  • You will coordinate environmental permits
  • You will work with multi-disciplinary teams and develop positive working relationships in a team environment

What you'll bring to WSP:
  • Minimum BSc degree with at least 3 years of experience as an environmental professional, preferably in the construction industry
  • Preferable to have a professional registration in a related environmental field such as Certified Professional in Erosion and Sediment Control (CPESC), Environmental Professional (EP), Technologist or technician (ASTTBC), or Register Professional Biologist (R.P.Bio.).
  • Willingness to perform fieldwork in various weather conditions and for extended periods
  • A variety of field experience, including laboratory and field sampling and/or biophysical field characterization
  • Proven commitment to Health and Safety
  • Valid Class 5 driver's licence
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal and time management skills
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • The ability to work in a dynamic environment with limited supervision
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented environment
  • Aptitude for mentoring and directing junior staff
