We are currently seeking a full-time Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Manager for our Whitby location. The EHS Manager will oversee overall facility safety by implementing best-in-class safety programs, infrastructure, and training for all employees. This role also provides employee relations support across various stages of the employee lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities:
- Partner with all teams to foster a strong safety culture aimed at zero accidents.
- Lead investigations of safety incidents, focusing on root cause analysis and effective countermeasures.
- Manage safety and health-related vendors and suppliers.
- Ensure compliance with all safety-related regulations and standards.
- Develop and implement policies to identify and mitigate hazards.
- Lead the Safety Committee, encouraging active participation across the organization.
- Coordinate safety audits and improvement activities.
- Review training needs and develop comprehensive internal and external training programs.
- Collaborate with the food safety team to integrate safety protocols into HACCP plans.
- Lead safety awareness campaigns to promote a safety-first culture.
- Organize and improve new employee onboarding processes.
- Advise management on occupational health & safety policies and their application.
- Maintain accurate employee-related safety data.
- Stay informed on legal requirements and government reporting regulations.
- Respond to inquiries about WSIB programs and educate employees on benefits.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Business, or related discipline.
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience in an EHS-related role.
- Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) designation preferred.
- Knowledge of the Environmental Protection Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, and related regulations.
- Familiarity with food safety principles and regulations is desirable.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, leadership, and coaching skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and relevant software.
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills for hazard identification and risk assessment.
