Some of our current notable projects in Canada include the Pape Tunnel Underground Station of the Ontario Line, RSSOM, and Hurontario LRT.

In anticipation of a project starting in summer 2025, we are seeking candidates for the role of Health and Safety Manager.

Position Summary:

The Health and Safety Manager will provide leadership, technical support, and advice on all aspects of health and safety. They will help assess the implementation of the H&S program within the workplace and develop or deliver related training as needed.

Responsibilities:

  1. Develop health and safety policies, practices, procedures, standards, and programs for employee and passenger activities.
  2. Oversee regulatory affairs and emergency preparedness, ensuring business continuity systems are in place.
  3. Ensure compliance with H&S requirements at construction sites according to the health and safety plan, company standards, customer requirements, and government regulations.
  4. Prepare weekly and monthly H&S statistical reports.
  5. Assist in the implementation and updating of the health and safety plan.
  6. Identify risks and define control measures through safe work procedures, Job Safety Analysis, and field hazard assessments.
  7. Conduct and document safety audits and inspections.
  8. Assist with Toolbox Talks.
  9. Record and investigate accidents and incidents; perform Root Cause Analysis on H&S issues.
  10. Coordinate health and safety aspects of site activities.
  11. Provide site-specific training.
  12. Coordinate First Aid, rescue, First Aid responders, and Fire Protection programs.
  13. Ensure ISO 45001 and COR programs are maintained on site.
  14. Coordinate workers' compensation processes as needed.

Qualifications and Education:

  1. Proven experience as a Health and Safety Manager.
  2. At least 7 years of experience leading major construction projects.
  3. Knowledge of construction health and safety regulations; certifications such as NCSO-IHSA, CRSP, or equivalent are required.
  4. Diploma or certificate in Occupational Health and Safety.
  5. Training and knowledge of EHS Management Systems, including ISO 45001 and COR certification programs.
  6. Completed a recognized First Aid/CPR course.
  7. Strong understanding of the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations, with experience implementing them in construction environments.
  8. Proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
