Job summary

Kenny U-Pull, a division of American Iron & Metal, is hiring an EHS Advisor to lead environmental, health and safety initiatives across Ontario sites. Reporting to the Environmental Regional Manager, you will partner with Branch Managers to strengthen the EH&S culture and ensure regulatory compliance.

You will conduct inspections, analyze risks, coordinate trainings, and support incident investigations while traveling up to 50% across Ontario.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2–5 years of health and safety experience in production, recycling, or retail operations.
  • Diploma or degree in Environmental Health and Safety or related field.
  • Valid class G driver's license.
  • Strong knowledge of the OHSA, O.Reg 851/90, Ontario Fire Code, Environmental Regulations.
  • Strong planning, organizational and adaptability skills; travel across Ontario up to 50%.
  • Proficient in MS Office.

Responsibilities

  • Support development of the EH&S culture with Branch Managers and employees.
  • Advise and support Branch Managers regarding related EHS initiatives, programs, procedures and tools.
  • Perform regular inspections to ensure safety and regulatory compliance.
  • Conduct occupational risk analyses and propose preventive measures.
  • Respond to incidents, emergencies, and regulatory complaints with timely resolution.
  • Conduct incident investigations and root-cause analysis with EHS partners.
  • Audit the adequacy and effectiveness of EHS preventive measures.
  • Coordinate with regulators and third parties for inspections.
  • Respond to environmental and health/safety information requests.
  • Plan and deliver internal EH&S trainings; monitor completion.
  • Track EH&S metrics and reporting.
  • Assist with onboarding and orientations for new hires.
  • Support rollout of EH&S programs and policies.
  • Advise Health and Safety Committee.
  • Perform other related EHS duties as assigned.

Job Description

Reporting to the AIM Recycling Ontario Environmental Regional Manager, the EHS Advisor works closely with RegionalManagers, Branch Managers, and AIM Recycling EHS teams to plan, organize, coordinate, and oversee environmental, health, and safety initiatives. This role supports corporate objectives while preventing workplace accidents, occupational illnesses, and environmental incidents across the Ontario Kenny U-Pull sites.

What you're responsible for:
  • Supporting the continual development of theEHSculture with allBranch Managers and employees
  • Advising, collaborating,and supportingBranch Managers regarding related strategicalEHSinitiatives, programs, procedures, and tools
  • Performing regular inspections of workplaces, work practices, and environmental controls to ensure that safety andall EHSregulatory requirements are respected
  • Performingoccupational risk analysis on various aspects of operations and proposing preventive measures to ensure success
  • Occasionally responding to and supporting after-hours incidents, emergencies, and community or regulatory complaints, ensuring timely resolution, regulatory reporting and follow-up
  • Conducting incident investigations and utilizing root cause analysis to determine preventive measures in collaboration with managers and EHS partners
  • Supporting and auditing the adequacy and effectiveness ofEHSpreventive measures
  • Participatingand collaboratingwith regulatory and third parties for inspections or investigations,MOL, MECP,Fire Dept., etc.)
  • Responding to employees and internal / external customers’environmental,occupational health and safety information requests
  • Planningand performinginternal trainings sessions and monitor completion of mandatoryEHStrainings
  • Tracking and reporting on variousEHSmetrics and key indicators
  • Conducting andassisting with orientation sessions for new hires and participate in on-boarding activities as required
  • Supporting the rollout of corporate/EHSprograms, policies, and other initiatives
  • Advising site Health and Safety Committee
  • Performing other related tasks related toEHS duties, as assigned
Qualifications

To join our team:

  • You have a minimum of 2-5 years of health and safety experience in a similar work environment (production, recycling, or retail operations)
  • You have a diploma or degree in Environmental Health and Safety or related course
  • You have a valid class G driver's license
  • You have strong knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Regulations for Industrial Establishments O.Reg 851/90, Ontario Fire Code, Environmental Regulations, and others as necessary
  • You have strong planning, organizational and adaptability skills
  • You are able to travel across Ontario 50% of the time
  • You are able to manage multiple files and tasks simultaenously
  • You are proficient in MS Office
