You have joined a top-notch group of surface water, groundwater, and ecology practitioners; geared to deliver high-quality, environmental consulting services with a focus on integrity, grit, and collaboration. In the role ofEnvironmental Field Operations Lead / Arborist, you will take charge of a wide range of challenging and rewarding environmental-based projects across multiple industry sectors, and, as part of this, use your skills and expertise to contribute to client deliverables through field assessments, desktop-based analyses, and technical reporting. You will also work with your fellow colleagues to help shape the overall environmental business through efforts to develop and maintain client relationships and pursuits, lead and grow one or more technical service offerings, mentor and guide junior staff, and foster and promote a shared vision for technical innovation and excellence. Your main contributions to the group will involve the development and management of the field operation for the overall environmental business. This will include the planning, coordination, and implementation of field studies for the various service lines, and, along with this, the maintenance and refinement of key field protocols related to health and safety, data collection and sampling, and instrumentation and technology. The role will also leverage your specific expertise in arborist assessments and erosion-and-sediment-control inspections; two specialized services that will form an integral part of multi-disciplinary project and proposal pursuits for the broader business.

What You'll Do:

  • Lead or support a wide range of project work and proposal pursuits with a focus on the technical disciplines of surface water, hydrogeology, and natural environment:
    • Baseline characterization studies, effects assessments, and water management analyses to support environmental assessments and other development planning initiatives;
    • Surface water and groundwater modelling assessments to support the design and implementation of development works;
    • Water-related permitting and regulatory approval activities; and
    • Environmental monitoring and inspections during construction.
  • Complete or coordinate field studies that include streamflow and groundwater level monitoring, erosion and sediment control inspections, aquifer testing programs, arborist studies, and surface water and groundwater quality sampling.
  • Implement desktop-based analyses that involve hydrologic and hydraulic analyses, compilation and interpretation of water quality and hydrometric data, and hydrotechnical and hydrogeological modelling investigations (to assess surface water and groundwater flow, interaction, availability, etc.).
  • Source and obtain the fleet of field instrumentation and equipment for the business.
  • Maintain and refine as required field protocols for health and safety, data collection and sampling, instrumentation and technology use, and QA/QC.
  • Take charge of technical reports, proposals, and other key client deliverables.
  • Develop positive working relationships in a highly dynamic and supportive team environment.
  • Provide creative and innovative solutions for projects by staying current/up-to-speed on relevant regulatory drivers, emerging technologies, and market demands.

What You'll Need:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in environmental science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in Environmental Field Operations.
  • Strong knowledge of federal and provincial environmental regulations.
  • Experience with stakeholder engagement and permitting processes.
  • Strong project management skills, including the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously as well as all aspects of project development and delivery (i.e., proposal through to deliverables, including time and budget management).
  • Valid Ontario driver’s licence is required.
