OVERVIEW

The primary function of the Environmental Coordinator is to increase environmental awareness and performance, supporting engagement among FRPD and our clients. They will facilitate, implement, document, and perform tasks specific to our clients and FRPD, benefiting from comprehensive training programs.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Act as an Environmental Ambassador for FRPD, assisting with the preparation and implementation of environmental procedures and plans to improve practices and minimize operational impact on the environment.
  • Participate in the administration of FRPD’s Environmental Management System, including monitoring practices to ensure continuous improvement.
  • Exercise interpersonal skills, including leading others, representing the company, interacting with clients, crews, the public, and co-workers; negotiating diplomatically; analyzing situations.
  • Report directly to the Regulatory Compliance & Environmental Manager, working closely with Business Group Leaders, Superintendents, and Project Managers.
  • Assist with environmental permitting processes for various projects.
  • Support jobsites through regular environmental monitoring, record-keeping, water quality monitoring, sediment sampling, site audits, and reporting.
  • Work safely, understanding and applying company and client policies, procedures, industry practices, and regulations. Promote safety and wear required PPE.
  • Maintain typical working hours based on site activities.
  • Work outdoors in diverse conditions, sometimes facing adverse weather, noise, restricted areas, and navigating stairs or ladders.
  • Embrace new assignments and adapt to new situations, seeking opportunities for improvement and adding value to health, safety, environment, and quality aspects.
QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience

  • Degree or Diploma in Environmental Science/Management or related field from a recognized institution.
  • 3-5 years of experience in environmental services.

  • Strong analytical, planning, prioritization, and execution skills.
  • Ability to respond calmly under pressure.
  • Diplomatic skills, including negotiation and conflict resolution.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of legislation and regulations.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • High integrity, confidentiality, and accountability.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Willingness to travel.
Additional Considerations

Must be self-supervised, able to meet deadlines, handle multiple tasks, and work under stress. Must work cooperatively, handle confrontations independently, and manage emotional situations professionally.

Physical and Psychological Conditions

Must be able to work outdoors in various weather conditions, handle physical tasks, and cope with emergencies, extended hours, and travel. Psychologically, must be comfortable speaking publicly, dealing with diverse people, and remaining alert.

Work Environment and Hazards

Includes exposure to adverse weather, confined spaces, heights, moving machinery, and hazardous substances. Must adhere to safety protocols and wear PPE.
