Canada Packers Inc. in Landmark, MB is seeking an Environment Specialist for a part-time 24 hours/week role to promote environmental compliance and manage manure programs. Travel within Manitoba and Saskatchewan is required; a valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle are essential.

The position reports to the Environment Manager and supports a values-based culture with opportunities for growth. Ideal candidates hold a BSc in Agriculture or Engineering (or related diploma) and have 5+ years

Qualifications

  • Bachelor-level or diploma in Agriculture, Biosystems or related field.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience, agronomy/soil science preferred.
  • Project management experience is a plus.

Responsabilités

  • Coordinate Manure Management Program components, vendor management, permits and invoicing.
  • Administer manure applicator agreements and contract documentation.
  • Coordinate seasonal and operational environmental programs (e.g., slurry management).
  • Process multi-stream invoicing (manure applicator, garbage, land rent).
  • Develop and supervise environmental corrective action plans.
  • Coach and train barn staff on regulations and environment management.

About This Opportunity:

Reporting to the Manager, Environment, the Environment Specialist will work closely with the Environment Team to promote and ensure that environmental compliance is adhered to within Canada Packers.

Responsibilities:
  • Coordination of Manure Management Program – including vendor management, biosecurity, PO and invoice management, permits.
  • Administer manure applicator agreements, including coordinating contracts, requesting purchase orders, and ensuring proper documentation is in place prior to work execution.
  • Coordinate seasonal and operational programs, including winterization of slurry tanks and supporting critical manure management periods such as spring sales invoicing and execution.
  • Process and coordinate invoicing activities across multiple streams, including manure applicator), garbage, and land rent.
  • Development and Supervision of environmental corrective action plans.
  • Coaching and Training barn employees on regulations and environment management.

Skills & Experience:

Bachelor of Science in Agriculture or Engineering (Biosystems) or Agriculture Diploma and/or 5+ years relevant experience with a strong preference for Agronomy or Agroecology or Soil Science.

Project Management experience considered an asset.

Ability to be process focused.

Must possess exceptional skills in:

  • organization (including electronic file organization)
  • time management
  • communication

Highly motivated self-starter that can operate independently with minimum or no supervision.

Must possess a valid driver’s license and have access to a personal vehicle.

Willingness to travel within Manitoba and Saskatchewan, including periods of up to 2 consecutive nights away from home.
