Join to apply for the Environment Health & Safety Specialist role at GFL Environmental Inc.

As a key member of GFL’s team, you will be committed to providing a healthy and safe work environment for all our team members. Working closely with both our operational and corporate teams, the EHS Specialist will ensure that safety is a priority in all daily activities.

Responsibilities

1. Conduct onsite inspections to evaluate safe work practices.
2. Perform internal audits and ensure compliance with relevant legislation.
3. Assess behaviors and support corrective actions.
4. Educate workers on safety policies and standards.
5. Support external audits.
6. Maintain a culture of safety through GFL’s Safety Manual.
7. Assist in investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.
8. Report injuries, property damage, and environmental events.
9. Support safety training, including new employee orientations.
10. Stay updated on safety regulations and policies.
11. Generate weekly safety talks (4/year).
12. Ensure conformance with regulations, laws, and policies.
13. Demonstrate leadership and maturity in uncertain situations.
14. Guide operational teams with constructive support.
15. Support injury management and return-to-work programs.
16. Perform additional duties as required.

Job Requirements

• Willingness to travel regionally.
• Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
• Self-motivated with good organizational skills.
• Knowledge of health and safety legislation.
