Holcim is planning to spin off its North American Business to unleash its full potential, capitalizing on North America’s oversized growth in construction led by infrastructure modernization, a surge in advanced manufacturing and AI operations, and the growth of resilient cities.

Holcim plans to list the new company on the NYSE by the end of the first half of 2025 and establish its operations headquarters in the US to serve the North American market and pursue regional growth strategies.

The newly listed company will become North America’s leading building solutions provider, with an industry-leading market position to meet customer ambitions with advanced building solutions from foundation to rooftop.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The primary objective is to reduce/eliminate environmental liability by ensuring plant operations comply with permits, regulations, and laws. The incumbent will deliver environmental management system components, such as completing audits, following up on actions, and supporting administrative duties for compliance. Additionally, the Environment Coordinator will collaborate with various departments and country-level staff to advance Lafarge Canada's sustainability goals—decarbonization, circularity, water & nature, and community engagement—and develop long-term improvements, ensuring technical doctrines are implemented at the plant level.

WHAT YOU’LL ACCOMPLISH
  • Ensure full compliance with Health & Safety policies and procedures.
  • Ensure all contracts and project sites meet Lafarge safety requirements.
  • Develop, circulate, and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to control environmental impacts.
  • Identify environmental hazards and propose preventative measures.
  • Develop and update emergency and communication plans for environmental incidents.
  • Implement waste minimization, recycling, and treatment processes.
  • Work with stakeholders to prepare environmental documents and technical studies.
  • Set environmental department goals aligned with country, market, and plant objectives.
  • Manage compliance reporting within the Eastern Canada Region, including internal and external regulatory requirements.
  • Promote a culture of safety and environmental responsibility in all work environments.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Environmental Sciences, Chemical Engineering, or related fields.
  • 3 to 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Proficiency in computer applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Visio, MS Project).
  • Good understanding of ISO standards.
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and able to multitask under pressure.
  • Bilingual in French and English.
Additional Requirements
  • Employees required to wear respirators must be clean-shaven where the seal meets the face to pass fit tests.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and use of PPE, including respirators.
WHAT WE OFFER
  • Health & dental benefits from day one.
  • Generous pension plan and voluntary savings programs.
  • Employee assistance and mental health support.
  • Recognition awards, discounts, and online learning opportunities.
  • Support for new parents and an inclusive work environment.
