Job summary

Next Level Games, a Nintendo subsidiary, is seeking an experienced Environment Artist to join our Vancouver studio. You will craft onstyle environments with assets, scenes, and props, collaborating with concept artists, environment artists, and game designers to shape the player experience.

You will work hands-on across environments, contributing to gameplay quality and visual storytelling while aligning with production timelines and quality standards.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years as an Environment Artist or shipped a minimum of 1 console game.
  • Experience with hard surfaces, organic forms, and architectural subject matter.
  • Experience with Maya, ZBrush and Substance suite.
  • Solid understanding of 3D pipelines and best practices.
  • Hands-on approach and ability to collaborate with team members.

  • Help set goals with Production for Environment artists.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:

We are currently looking for an experienced and passionate Environment Artist who is excited to join our team! You will play a key role inexecuting onthe unique artistic style and creating environments that have major impact on our players!

You will be heavily involved in the Environment workflow. You willbe responsible forcreating environments that areonstyle and represent the quality that we all know and love with Nintendo games. You will behands oncreating assets, scenes, and props, working hand in hand with our concept artists,environmentartists, and game designers.

  • Play a key role in our day-to-day creation of environments
  • Leverage your artistic abilities to help improve gameplay and the player experience through your understanding of gameplay fundamentals
  • Demonstrate creativity and passion
  • Help setgoalsalongside the Production team forthe Environmentartists
  • Support Production with planning and be knowledgeable about timelines
  • Support our Lead Environment Artist with outsourced assets and ensuring that they are up to quality
WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR:
  • Minimum of 3 years as an Environment Artist or must have shipped a minimum of 1 shipped console game
  • Experience and skill with hard surfaces, organic forms, and architectural subject matter
  • Experience in Maya, Zbrushand Substance suite
  • Solid understanding of 3D pipelines and best practices
  • Hands-on approach – able to collaborate with team members effectively
  • Strong understanding of composition, form, and shape
  • Experience with procedural content creation is a plus

This is a hybrid role, with the first three months fully in‑studio. After that, there is flexibility to work from home, with a requirement of three days per week in our Vancouver studio.

The hiring range for this position is$67,000 to $84,000CADannually and is subject to change. The final base salary compensation will be based on factors such as skills, education, and experience.
