Job summary

Silent-Aire, a division of Johnson Controls, is seeking an entry‑level Welder Helper at our manufacturing plant in Nisku, AB. You will support the welding department through housekeeping, material handling and basic prep tasks to keep operations safe and productive.

Responsibilities include assisting journeyperson welders, maintaining a clean work area, operating basic cutting tools and helping with inventory control while adhering to our safety program and 5S standards.

Qualifications

• Basic awareness of welding and fabrication shop environments.
• Fundamental understanding of workplace health and safety requirements.
• General knowledge of common hand tools and basic shop equipment.
• Ability to identify and report hazards or quality concerns.
• Knowledge of proper housekeeping and material handling practices.
• Ability to work under direct supervision and apply feedback to improve skills.
• Introductory knowledge of materials handling and inventory control.
• Understanding of 5S practices in manufacturing.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced production environment.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist Journeyperson Welders and Supervisors with daily welding activities.
• Perform shop housekeeping and material preparation to support workflow.
• Safely operate basic cutting equipment and small handheld tools.
• Inspect and maintain small tools and report malfunctions promptly.
• Assist with inventory control and material staging per procedures.
• Load and unload materials for production or shipment using proper techniques.
• Identify and report unsafe conditions or equipment defects.
